Product Description

The Lisa Guyer Band "Leap of Faith" CD is straight ahead rock n roll with a blues influence. The CD features former guitarist of the rock band "Boston" Barry Goudreau with the incredible voice of Lisa Guyer. Other musicians on the CD include members of Barry's former band RTZ.

About the Artist

Lisa Guyer is a legend in the northeast, well known for her demanding stage presence and Janis Joplin like vocal chops. Barry Goudreau is a world renowned guitar player, having played with the band "Boston" and making his own mark with top singles from the Barry Goudreau solo album, Orion the Hunter and RTZ. The combination of Barry on guitar and Lisa's searing vocals make this a powerful CD. Brian Maes and Tim Archibald, formerly with RTZ and Peter Wolf round out this awesome array of talent.

Band members: Lisa Guyer, Vocals
Barry Goudreau, Guitar
Tim Archibald, Bass Guitar
Brian Meas, Keyboard and harmonica
Ralph Vertullo, Drums

Former Boston guitarist Barry Goudreau's The Lisa Guyer Band lasted just a little longer than his early 90's project RTZ. That band released only one album before folding. The Lisa Guyer Band released two. Goudreau produced and shares writing credits for most of the songs on both albums, competently performed and engineered recordings that have little to recommend them from among hundreds of similar sounding albums. As with the debut recording (Gypsy Girl), this one features a guitar/keyboard/bass/drum quartet fronted by Lisa Guyer, whose gravely voice is well suited to the blues and who sounds best here on the ballads - Lost in a Minute, You, Nobody's Somebody. The obligatory Boston cover is Long Time, which along with the 60's Dusty Springfield hit, Son of a Preacher Man, are given the blues treatment with harmonica and twangy guitar. The album also includes an unforgiving cover of Damn Your Eyes, with Guyer sounding weak next to Etta James' 1989 original. If you want some tasty blues from a real blues singer, check out James' Seven Year Itch.

GREAT VOICE ! Lisa sold me while singing with Sully Erna on the Avalon album. Hope she releases a new CD in the future.

The combination of Brad Delp, Tom Scholz, and Barry Goudreau in the first two Boston albums created the sound that I can say is indictive of my favorite band of all time. Tom Scholz has steadily eroded that stature with the elimination of Barry and intermintent Brad Delp appearances with his self indulgent ego with Walk On and Corporate America. I found myself returning to my purchases of Barry's work that includes Brad Delp in Barry's self titled album of 1980 and Return to Zero in the 90's, to get my fix. This album is a very pleasant surprise. Takes a run through or two to let this cd sink in, keep an open mind on "Long time". and you will love it. Lisa is a true talent that I hope gets discovered. I will look forward to a possible tour. Would Tom Scholz' ego step down and let the Lisa Guyer Band and Barry open???
