5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful romantic soundtrack for film score fans
Randy Edelman is an interesting composer who doesn't seem to get any big projects despite his talents. Just as his score for The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor was a rousing orchestral score, he has created another wonderful score for Leap Year. 3.0 out of 5 stars Irish Island
I saw the movie and loved the music and songs. I ordered this Cd just last week and it was 13.99, now its 12.99. It is all instrumentals, no vocals in it. I am very dissappointed they did not include the vocal songs. Its nice, but I would not recommend buying it.

Randy Edelman is an interesting composer who doesn't seem to get any big projects despite his talents. Just as his score for The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor was a rousing orchestral score, he has created another wonderful score for Leap Year. I was actually going to skip this after I heard the samples online because for some reason they sampled the strange slow celtic pieces. However, this score has a lot of tracks and for the sake of completion I think it was a good choice to include all the score, even the tracks that aren't my kind of music.

The meat of this score is in beautiful romantic melodies, many of which give me the chills. There is a heavy use of strings, woodwinds, and acoustic guitar along with the occasional Celtic instruments and a few bluegrass tracks. If you like beautiful film scores that you can listen to while you relax and read a good book, you should give this one a try. Randy Edelman has done it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent score!, February 4, 2010

I fell in love with this movie, and I enjoyed both the score so I was happy to see this CD being released. It's a beautiful score, one that I can put on while working or reading to relax to. For those concerned about it not being as expected -- the listing shows a composer, and the picture of the album cover says "music composed and conducted by," which indicates that the CD is a score CD, not a compilation. If you like film scores, I'd recommend this one.

2.0 out of 5 stars disappointing - does not includee any of the vocal songs, June 18, 2010

We loved the vocals in the movie, esp. the Gwyneth Herbert cover of Neil Young's Only Love can Beak your Heart so when I saw the sountrack album I just ordered it. when it arriave i find its just the compositionw specially written for the movie and inlcuded none of the apparently 15 vocals used that we really wanted. The Edelman compositions are nice but I really would not have bought this album had I known. Definately not what I expected.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected, March 28, 2011
This review is from: Leap Year (Audio CD)
When it says "Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" on a CD, I expect vocal and instrumental music. The instrumental music is wonderful, but I wanted the songs also. Maybe they wanted all the profits from the CD and didn't want to share with the other artists. Another example of "Consumer Beware".

This CD is not the folk pop music with vocals which would even be better.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Completely Happy, May 5, 2011

I fell in love with the scenery and music, but especially listening to the vocals on the movie soundtrack. I don't usually order movie soundtracks, so imagine my disappointment when the cd arrived and there were no vocal songs on it. I played it forwards and backward, thinking I must've missed them, but no such luck.
A new soundtrack cd should be offered with all the artist from the movie soundtrack. In addition, those of us that purchased the soundtrack and feel slighted, should be able to return our original purchase and receive the "right" one at a discount price.

Now I feel stuck with a cd that I really didn't completely want, and that has since been discounted.

Love this soundtrack. Is is so soothing and relaxing to listen to. I wish that they would have had a second disk with the other songs from the movie so I didn't have to search through itunes for each individual song.

5.0 out of 5 stars Late to the party, November 8, 2010

Today I finally noticed who wrote the score. The CD is in my car, a constant along with 2 others that offer melody, peace and inspiration. I finally said,"Who is that playing the piano?" I must hear more and just ordered 2 CDs by Randy Edelman. The movie is a favorite and look at it often. Especially when
other movies disappoint and I want to laugh and feel good. Everyday brings something new and today it was Randy Edelman -today's composer that makes my heart sing. Needless to say I loved the Leap Year CD-movie and score. MKay

5.0 out of 5 stars The most beautiful music, August 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Leap Year (Audio CD)
The music in Leap Year is truly the most beautiful score ever written. Whenever I listen to it, it's as if I'm in Ireland. It's a compilation of melodies that are romantic, fresh, powerful, fun, full of rich Irish sounds and traditional dances. This one of a kind musical collection will transport you to a different world.
