5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun for seven month old
I picked this little drum up for my grandson and he really loves it. He has a little plastic baseball bat that he bangs on it with and since he's at the age of noise and bangs he has a great time. He enjoys the music and also he likes to listen to the voice talk to him.. It's very durable, he likes to stand on it in the playpen to get a better view. I also like the...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I was hoping for
My 9 month old son loves to bang things, but for some reason, he gets bored with this almost as soon as he starts playing with it. I love Leapfrog toys, and this one has such high ratings, I am surprised it's not a bigger hit. The only thing I can figure is maybe he doesn't like the kid's voice shouting the letters (I know I don't). Plus, it turns off much too quickly...

He enjoys the music and also he likes to listen to the voice talk to him.. It's very durable, he likes to stand on it in the playpen to get a better view. I also like the idea that I can lower the sound and the lights are also intriguing. I'd recommend it highly as I feel he will probably even enjoy it when he gets a little older so he can learn to follow the pattern of beats.

My son received this drum for Christmas when he was 7 months old. He loves to beat on it (and climb on it & sit on it & drop it...). He will push the star & dance to the music. I love that it teaches the abc's & 123's while he is playing. I love the automatic shut off feature- he is now 17 months, still plays with it & I have yet to have to change the batteries- unlike other toys that don't have this feature. This toy is very durable & lots of fun for him. I find myself

My son got this last Christmas -- when he was 10 months old. He loved it then and he loves it now -- he'll be 2 in 3 months. He drops it (on hardwood floor) all the time, stands and sits on it. It still works well. It shuts off after a few minutes of not being played with. I only had to change the batteries once. This is a very durable, education toy. Teaches him the alphabet and numbers. It also plays like a regular drum. It has volume control as well.

When my 6 month old daughter got this toy for Christmas from her uncle, we really didn't think it looked any different than the other 500 battery operated toys she got.Boy, were we wrong!Skylar looooves this toy. When she hits the drum(banging things seems to be the favorite amusement for most babies this age)each letter from A-Z or numbers 1-10,depending on the setting, show up in red lights and is yelled out by a child's voice, each time it is hit. This teaches her cause and effect, and also, the alphabet and numbers visually and vocally. This toy also has 2 more settings for instrumental sounds,so a child can experience playing their own drum.Cute childrens' voices provide songs and words of encouragement when your little one is drumming away.A really interactive, educational, and entertaining gem of a toy!

My daughter is 10 months and loves this drum! I'm sure it will grow with her. It's easy to beat on and has so many functions! It's great and worth the buy.

My in-laws got my son this toy for Christmas (he was 7 months old). I never saw it before, but knew leap frog from the pre-school toys. It is the perfect size and he just loves it. I like that it will grow with him, unlike so many toys out there. Right now I put it on the music setting and he likes hitting it and hearing the music. He's discovered that it even works by hitting the sides and bottom of the drum! And another nice feature is that it turns itself off after a minute or so if my son crawls away to play with something else.

Plus, it turns off much too quickly and there is no way a baby can reactivate it unless he happens to hit the star button in front. It would be nice if you could re-activate it by hitting it, but that doesn't work.

My son prefers the LeapFrog Discovery Ball. It has really helped him learn cause and effect. He loves spinning the ball. Plus, it has a volume control and can also be re-activated easily by spinning the ball. In our house, it definitely is superior to the Learning Drum.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Educational Toy, January 7, 2002

My eleven month old son recieved this toy for Christmas. He loves it. He loves to pound on it an see the lights and hear the sounds of the drum. It has more than one tune to drum to and I like the fact that he is getting the repetition of his entire alphabet and numbers up to 10. It also has a mode that allows his to just make "music" instead of hearing the voice saying letters or numbers. He has a lot of fun with this and I think he's going to learn something from it too.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must buy!!, November 20, 2001

I bought this drum for my daughter when she was 8 months old. She is now 10 months and her hand-eye coordination has improved greatly as a result of this toy. The drum pad lights up with numbers or letters or shapes (depends on which mode is selected) which can keep her interested for a long period of time. And she loves to sing (yell) along with the programmed voices on the drum.

I have two infant girls. They are now 21 months & 9 months. My first daughter got this as a present on her first birthday. She loved it and still does. We have wood floors throughout our house and she drops it, kicks it & throws it and it keeps on playing. My youngest daughter just started to be amused by it and my oldest daughter didn't want to share so I had to buy another one. This toy is great when your trying to get laundry done or cook dinner. If you bring the toy out you know they won't get into trouble, or at least for a couple of minutes. Now we sit and listen as they make music together and sing along with the toy. I would highly recommend this.
