We hung this toy on the back of our changing table as entertainment for our kids. My daughter and son both played with this toy from a very young age. It's held up quite well considering. The pros: they were both captivated by the music, and selection was quite diverse. The hanging toys were great for when they were younger and could not press the buttons. The cons: I always drop a star for any product I can't take the cover off and drop into the washing machine. Once it gets dirty, you have to hand wash it and worry that it's completely clean for the baby's hands/mouths. Also, we found that the kids were having trouble pushing the numbers. It's so plush that they really have to give a hard push to trigger the songs so if it's hanging anywhere, it's almost impossible. My daughter eventually gave up trying to push the numbers and just started pushing the menu keys on the neck all the time. I give it a so-so rating even though we LOVE many other of the Leapfrog products.

Amazing! Baby stop crying right away!

I bought this for my 7 month old son. It is great! The music keeps him very entertained. Leap Frog has made the most fantastic learning toy for baby, and my older children love it as well!

This toy is adorable, no lie. LeapFrog had good intentions with this one, but I just haven't been impressed.

- It is made of cloth, but is not machine washable, only wipeable. We actually received this toy gently used from a friend who has short haired dogs, and the cloth on this toy has those little tiny short hairs EMBEDDED in the fabric. I used a pet hair roller, wet cloth, fabric cleaners, everything and can not get those little hairs off. The wires that run all inside of the toy to make the sounds make it impossible to ever wash any other way.

- My friend had this toy for about a year, very gently used, as her kids really didnt show any interest in it, and it was always kept indoors. The fabric just faded. This toy looks just kind of drab, and has continued to quickly lose its vibrancy since we've had it.

- My son (9 months old right now) was given this at 4 months. He has never been very interested in it at all. My friend said both of her daughters were the exact same way.

- The songs this thing plays are ANNOYING. The volume isnt that loud, so at least it won't wake you in the dead of night, but the voice makes me shudder. Hah.

When I saw the price of this thing brand new, I was thrown back. This toy is NOT worth that much. If it were hard plastic that was wipeable, maybe. I wouldn't have paid $20 for this thing. Spend your money on something your child will WANT to play with and that won't annoy the crap out of you. This one is in my garage sale pile.

My daughter played with this toy through age 2 (she was about 1 when she got it). She liked the music it plays and the little counting and color activities helped her learn too. Definitely a must have for a baby. I'm buying one for my niece who's 9 months old. You can find it on the leapfrog website for about 15 bucks though.

We got this for my son when he was less than a year old. Although he couldn't press the buttons at that point, he loved playing with the five hanging pieces(one has a squeaker, one a rattle, one crinkle paper, one purple flowers you can spin, and one a bell). He mouthed these a bit when he was younger as well, which was entertaining to him and slighly gross to me :). He really loved the tunes it plays. Once he was around two, he was able to activate the buttons (a bit tricky) on the five numbers, and be able to make the different sounds play for themselves.

This caterpillar is well padded, and includes a handle to carry it with, and velcro straps to mount it to a crib. The cloth is colorful and appears to be color fast, at least for our kid sucking on it, and the hand-washing we did with a washcloth. The colors are still bright after more than a year of use.

The caterpillar has the numbers one through five sewn onto five different colored segments. There is a button under the middle of each number that you can press to activate sound. The button is relatively easy to depress, it's just a bit hard to find, and mashing down on the stripe overall (as a baby / toddler will) doesn't always work.

Beneath each of the segments is a colorful shape with a picture on it: one bluebird under '1', two butterflies under '2', and so on. The pictures match the 'numbers' version of the songs by showing that many of whatever is sung about.

There are four different modes: numbers, colors, music, and musical medleys.
- The numbers mode plays a short song about the number in a friendly voice, e.g. "two little butterflies love to fly, two little butterflies fluttering by. One, two."
- Colors mode plays a similar short song about the color, or if pressed a second time, the color sung twice (cooler than it sounds).
- Musical mode announces a composer when a button is pressed, then plays a brief excerpt you'll recognize from that composer
- Musical medleys plays a longer version of each song without describing a composer.

Pro:
+ the songs, sound, and music are nice, my kid loves them, and they never got on my nerves which is a testament.
+ the toy is well constructed, colorful, and appears very safe for toddlers.
+ a mixture of numbers to keep toddlers entertained and learn the numbers 1-5, pictures of that number of items, and tactile toys to entertain infants. Colors as well. Very educational for a young child's toy!
+ although it doesn't have a volume switch (that I found), it is a reasonable volume.

Con:
- buttons are a little hard to find for a kid, who doesn't necessarily think to press the same place an adult does (the center of each number).

This is absolutely a great educational toy!

My son received this as a gift when he was about a month old and still enjoys it now that he is almost two years old. It is colorful, there is a volume control on the inside, and he has loved listening to the music. This has been a great toy that keeps him entertained in his crib in the morning, or when he wakes up from a nap, which gives me some extra quiet time.

As mentioned, the buttons were hard for him to push when he was younger, but he figured those out fairly quickly. The real disappointment is that now quite a few of the buttons no longer work, which really frustrates him. I'm especially disappointed because this has been a bedtime toy for so long, and the music is great for settling him down and signaling that it's bedtime, but it just isn't working properly anymore.

Overall, this is a great toy, as the music really does calm a wound-up child, and it grows well with the child. Just disappointing that it isn't working anymore!

This is super cute. I like all of the tactile elements. I only wish there were something to count rather than just hearing the songs.

I got this as a gift and DD has been playing with it for a few months now. The music is lovely; the lyrics rhyme well and actually make sense. The variety is great; colours, numbers, classical music. My baby gets bored fast with toys but this one actually keeps her occupied as the colours,feel, texture and sounds are so interesting.

The buttons to activate the music are quite small and require a fairly precise press to turn it on. But DD has learnt to use her index finger to turn it on as she saw us do it and she's 11mths. So I find that a plus :)

The only thing I'm not too pleased with is that I can't wash it in a washing machine. But then this is an electronic toy, so surface clean will have to do.

I have purchased this toy as gifts for family and friends. Every one ranging in age from infant to adult has enjoyed this toy!
