We got this toy for my one-year-old and she loves it! You can program in your child's name, favorite color, favorite animal, and favorite food. You can also select five songs for it to play and five different lullabyes (for a total of ten personalized songs). My little one's favorite song is the one that spells her name. The toy is just AWESOME!

My daughter got this toy for her first birthday and she hasn't slept without it since! Violet sings her bedtime music and says "x minutes of bedtime music! Snuggle up _name_" It is too cute. In the morning my daughter will play with Violet for around 30 minutes before she wants out of her crib. She is in love with this toy. It's been such a hit in our house that we are getting one for each of my nieces aged 1 year and 2 years old. It was very easy to download my child's name onto Violet. It took less than 20 minutes.

This is the best baby shower gift ever. The toy is personalized for the baby, and provides learning tools and sleepy time music. A great gift!

We LOVE Violet. This is one of the best toys our daughter has ever received and nobody seems to know about it!!

As a proud parent of a 2-year old I didn't really think my daughter needed another stuffed animal, even one that could say her name. Violet was a gift just prior to a cross-country flight and I have to say I was wrong. She is amazing!!

Violet is easy to set up and Leap Frog has done a great job with their names database - my daughter's name, Maren, is not one that I'll find on keychains or cups throughout her life but it was a choice when setting Violet up (and also for Tag Junior as that is also a Leap Frog toy). Violet is a welcome addition to our life in the house and in the car. She has two volume settings both of which are pretty indoor-friendly (even airplane friendly) and she is not nearly as annoying as one little red $60 monster who constantly needs help getting up.

My daughter loves pushing Violet's paws to get to the song she wants to hear and I can't wait for her to learn how to spell her name with Violet's help. You can select 5 different songs, your child's favorite animal, food and color.

Purchase Violet or Scout and you won't be sorry - and the price?! This is a lot of customizable, lovable toy for $20.

My 1-year-old received this as a gift for her first birthday. She loved playing with it and singing the songs, and the fact that the dog "knows" her name and favorite colors, etc., is such a wonderful feature. Unfortunately, the dog quit working after only about 6 months. We replaced the batteries, but no luck. The dog still looks brand new - we had taken very good care of it, and it was not exposed to water or anything else that might cause damage. The product only has a 3-month warranty, which is pretty poor, I think. This is the second LeapFrog toy that just quit working one day, and the company's response is always the same...too bad. I will really think twice about purchasing any LeapFrog products in the future.

Great toy, but we had issues with setup. Violet would not register as being connected to my computer so I could not run the setup to program my daughter's name and favorite things. I randomly tried another USB cable and it worked PERFECTLY. If your toy does not connect at first, try another cable. I used the one from my digital camera. It is not ideal that part of the toy did not work, but [...] I can't complain when it is such an easy fix!

I'm a tech geek, so when I see a toy that I can customize by connecting it via USB, my interest gets piqued. I bought this last year, but it sat nearly a year before we found it and gave it to our two-year-old this past Christmas. The dog itself is cute and without the customization feature, would probably have earned 3 or 4 stars. But the customization is what falls short. The software you need to install to connect the puppy had a fit with my antivirus software. When I took the recommendation of the antivirus software, the LeapFrog software didn't work correctly. So after a reinstall (during which I had to repeatedly and anxiously tell my antivirus software to pipe down), I finally got it working.

Here's the extent of the customization:
1) Type in your child's name and hope that one of the recorded MP3 files matches. The third of three matched...somewhat. It's pronounced more like a question than a statement, so when it comes up in the toy's routine, it doesn't sound quite right. Nevertheless, my daughter gets a kick out of hearing the puppy say her name every so often.
2) Choose your child's favorite color, animal, and food. These are inserted occasionally in the dog's songs and activities. I don't think my daughter (only 2 remember) picks up on this (especially since her "favorites" are likely to change from day to day!).
3) Pick five "daytime" tunes and five "bedtime" tunes. These I picked mostly at random but, since they are tune only (no lyrics), my daughter isn't very interested in this feature.

After just a couple days, we don't see much of this puppy any more. My daughter prefers her non battery-operated baby dolls, books, and other toys to this one. I'm becoming increasingly dissatisfied with all LeapFrog toys due to their poor build quality and limited "learning". I think there are better quality games available on the iPod and more cost-effective and better quality toys elsewhere.

My daughter got one of these for her first birthday and It's very cute. It't takes a little bit of time to set up because you have to download a couple things so that you can customize it. And unlike other "educational" toys that say and do the same thing over and over you can change your customized options as often as you would like. My daughter loves hers.

My 9-month old daughter loves this toy. She always smiles when we bring it out. Of course, she is mostly interested in sucking on its ears and paws, which we don't let her do since it is not machine washable. Programming it was pretty easy. You just install the software that comes with it, then connect it to your computer via the USB port. In the program you can chose which songs it plays and customize it with your child's name, favorite food, favorite animal, and favorite color. The songs do a great job of incorporating the items you selected. The music is well done and catchy. I think this is a toy my daughter will continue to enjoy as she gets older.

i bought this toy for my 1 yr old daughter. she hasn't played with it yet, but i know she will love it! the set up was super simple. i was a little bit nervouse buying it, because i wasn't sure if my daughter's name would be on the list. it wasn't, but her nickname was, so that worked well for us. it also spells her full name out, which is awesome. i especially love the fact that while her name wasn't yet available, there was an option to send it in to LeapFrog and they may add it in a future update. Overall, i'm super excited for christmas when she can finally play with it. It was definitely more than worth it!!
