My son got this for Christmas! He was 15 months old at the time. He just loves it. Plays with it every day. He loves the music. He likes to dance to it and push the buttons. HE is learning his ABC's.. My older son gets use of it too. He is 4. He is learning the sounds of the letters.. So all around a GREAT toy! One great feature is that it has volume control. Always a must!

I just bought this toy for my 19 month old last week and he won't put it down!!! Every letter has a song and he just loves to press the buttons and dance. It also has the ABC song which he's learning to sing. What I love the most is that it holds his attention for a long period of time. This toy was a great buy!!!

We bought this for our son when he was 10 months old. We have had it for just over a month now. He is, of course, a little young for this toy. However, he loves the songs it plays for each letter and will "dance" and shake his head to the music. He has figured out how to turn the pages of the book, which makes a very cute rustling noise when he does it. The buttons light up, which attract his attention, but he only pushes them on accicdent. He is still too young for the game function. What I love about this, and it is why we bought it in the first place, is that it teaches phonics in addition to the letter. Each letter has a corresponding song which is sung when the button for that letter is pushed. The say the name of the letter, then use the letter is several words to demonstrate how that letter can sound. The songs are short and catchy, some are in female voices, others in male voices. Like all Leap Frog toys, there is a volume control and on/off switch. I am sure that my son will get more and more use out of this toy as he grows. He already enjoys to play with it, and will sit for 5 minutes or so. For a one year old, I think that is great!

I admit the I am hesitant to say good things about toys with batteries or toys that have kids push buttons to, "learn," but my 2 1/2 year old daughter does love this toy and seems eager to learn from it. She got it a year ago and it was a little over her head until she was about two years old. I think it will continue to keep her interest for at least another six months.

Will push the buttons of your button pushers,

I have a 2-year-old niece who's coo-coo for pushing buttons that result in noises, flashing lights, music, jiggling, and what not. In her book, this "Phonics Radio" is pretty sweet (not as sweet as the DVD player or my cell phone, but pretty close). At two, she's a little young for all of the features. The "master tune game," for example, zooms right over her head, but she doesn't seem to care. She's too busy being enthralled by the sound the plasic, half-moon "pages" make when she turns them. It's a crisp, papery, whoooshing sound, like she's flipping through the pages of a giant dictionary. It actually sounds pretty austere and collegiate, so, even if she can't find the letter that matches the song (yet), at least she's being subliminally conditioned to have an inexplicable compulsion to hang out in libraries. Like the manufacturer's blurb says, the "Phonics Radio" plays thirty songs. Yes, three-zero. Hey, I only hang out with her a couple of days a month, and even I get migraines listening to "La-La-LaLa, La-La-LaLa, Elmo's sooooooooooong" or whatever, over and over again (ugh, my eye is twitching right now, just typing about it). So the variety of tunes in this "radio" is just about the next best thing to ear plugs or, in my case, going home to the hushed stillness of my sparkling, child-free apartment. Ahh, remember those days?

My son got this for his 2nd birthday and LOVES it. GREAT learning toy! After 2 months, my son can recognize most of the alphabet and has fun doing it thanks to the catchy songs and games this toy offers. One of the best features is the volume control -- 2 settings for soft and loud play. I've thrown out toys that have been too loud so thankfully I can adjust this one. Great buy for kids 1-3 years old.

I bought this for my son's 2nd birthday. He loves it. It stays in our car and keeps him busy to and from daycare. After 2 weeks he has learned to sing most of the ABC song. Of course he doesn't want to do the find the letter game, but if I ask him to find a letter he will. The songs are cute and catchy and I often find myself singing along...or worse, singing them when he's not playing with the toy! Like others have mentioned it is very durable...ours has been thrown, dropped, etc. and it still works great.

My daughter received this for her 1st birthday. It wasn't a favorite at first but now she loves it. She likes to dance to the songs. It is great in the car. We like the sound control. The voices are a little annoying to adults, but great for kids. It will be great when she starts learning letters and sounds, plus it has a few standards like ABC, Row Your Boat and This Old Man. Makes a good gift.

Better than a DVD Player in the Car,

Unbelievable toy - and absolutely do not mind any of the noise. Our 17 month old has had this for a couple of months and absolutely loves it.
I think it is educational - letters and stuff like that - all I know is that even with our built in DVD player in our car (playing Baby Einstein - his absolute favorite) - he will disregard the movie and play with this thing. If he is upset, tired, hungry... anything - give him this - and he is quickly engaged and happy. two words - LIFE SAVER - never would have thought it - not sure why - maybe subliminal messaging - but the combination of movable pages, letters, lights, interactive voices and singing make this thing a life saver!!! Highly recommend. |
