My daughter is in kindergarten, and she absolutely loves this book! The story is entertaining and will keep your child reading for hours! The pen says each word as the child points to it. This has helped my daughter with her beginning comprehension!

I'm guessing you know how the Tag system works if you're reading this, so I'm focusing the review on the content of the book rather than the system itself. Go to LeapFrog TAG Reading System - Green (or the purple one or Toy Story one) for device-specific reviews.
Unlike some other movie-based Tag books (like Beauty & the Beast and Tinkerbell), this one doesn't try to cram the whole movie's plot into a book. It just tells the initial story of Flounder and Ariel searching the sunken ship for treasure and getting away from the shark. My daughter liked that because it was almost perfectly in line with that part of the movie (something that some kids might not care about, but it really matters to her!). The story is brief but it's not any shorter than it should be - just long enough to tell the story, which makes it short and sweet yet complete. Then it finishes with four games featuring Cinderella (one with _r consonant blends - dr, br, tr, fr, and pr - and the other on vowel recognition) and Jasmine (one with -s plurals and one using location-based vocabulary). This one is one of our favorites!

My 3yo would read this book every waking moment if she could. She loves the games as well as reading the story. Such an amazing toy to help teach the love of reading.

I have twin 4 year olds and while they enjoy this book it seems a bit short/unfinished compared to the other books we have.

Although LeapFrog's Tag system is recommended for children 4-?, my 3 yr old had constantly been asking, "What does that say?" She received the Tag reader & this book for Christmas. I think I enjoy playing and "reading" the books more than she does!

I love the Tag system, and I think it is a great learning tool for our Kindergarten homeschool curriculum. My daughter is a bit of a grumpy reader unless you get her on a great day, so it is important for me to have a variety of items like workbooks, books, DVDs, games, etc. for her to propel through reading. She likes the TAG system, and it is a great tool, but until she gets through the frustration of learning to read using phonics and sounding out words, this will be a challenge. She wants to rush, but this system is not meant for that. It is a terrific tool, but your child will not read overnight and may not "love it" for what it is - it's not playing with Matchbox cars or a Leapster, it is reading, so be patient and use in only small doses until your child's reading really takes off.

Bought for my 6 year old granddaughter. She loves it. We took on vacation this week and she was using it and doing the activities and different game levels. I would recommend.

My four-year-old daughter loves this book. This was the first one we bought for her TAG reader. She never seems to get bored with it.
