This is a wonderful Tag book for the Cars lover. My 4-year-old received the Tag system and this book for his birthday in July. He absolutely loves it!

He's read it so much that as soon as he turns the page, he shouts out "Frank's coming!" or makes the sound effects of the characters. He tells me what's happening before even putting the pen to the book now. And I can see improvement by hooking the pen up to my computer - it tells you which questions he answered correctly and how long he's read the book.

My son loves everything Cars, so this was a great fit.

I would suggest having a talk with your child about how to treat books before leaving him/her alone to play. We did have one casualty - a ripped page. But now I've talked to my son about how to care for books and I'm hoping the rest of the pages stay in tact.

I would definitely recommend this book if you have the Tag Reader system.

My 4 year old son loves the movie "Cars" and loves this book as well. He started using his Tag Reader almost as soon as he unwrapped it at Christmas. He has 4 books so far, but this is his favorite. Great for boys or girls.

Great for kids who need incentive in the form of their favorite characters in order to read.
The Tag function is a helpful teaching tool. Anything geared at this age group has to be durable, though.
After a while, the edges will become frayed. A sure sign of love!

This book is definately different than the Movie...and the voices are not the same either. But aside from that, it's great! McQueen and Mater go tractor tipping.....and run into trouble. That's the good part. The great part is the back. The words you need to put together. Like pothole, firehouse...it really makes my son think. I like that. Plus other games throughout the story are fun too.

If you have a Tag reader and you also have a fan of Disney's Cars in your family than this title will be a welcome addition to your Tag library. We have the Tag that holds 10 books but we have been able to put 11 titles on the Tag, including this one. A fun title. Who doesn't love a little tractor tipping?

Very cute book. Just like the movie. My kids read it daily. Pages are thin, so they can tear easily with a lot of use.

My 3 year old loves this book, but I think that's mostly because he like Mater.

This book has some VERY bad content and lesson. We were very disappointed at some of the concepts that are in this book that are presented without significant resolution including peer pressure, taunting, etc.

There are much better Leapfrog books to buy than this one.

If your kid likes 'Mater and Lightening Mcqueen and tag and is approx 7 years old, this is a winner.

Our 3 yr old son loves 'Lightning McQueen' and the whole Cars gang, so this book was perfect. We read it almost every night and he has to have the leap frog "pen". I have noticed a definite improvement on letter recognition. At nap time, I will read the book without the "pen" and purposely not finish sentences so he starts to get familiar with the words (I will point to the sentence as I read it). Although, at this point it is more pure memorization since we read it so often. The story is on the first 10 or so pages and the last 8 pages are word and letter games that he loves.

I would definitely recommend the whole Leap Frog system... even if it says it is for 4-6, it is still good for a 2-3 yr old.

I'm guessing you know how the Tag system works if you're reading this, so I'm focusing the review on the content of the book rather than the system itself. Go to LeapFrog TAG Reading System - Green (or the purple one or Toy Story one) for device-specific reviews.

Unlike some of the movie-based books (like Beauty & The Beast, Tinker Bell, and Toy Story 3), this story doesn't try to retell the entire movie, only the tractor tipping part. My daughter liked that approach better than the ones that tried to do it all and then left out major chunks without explanation. (Some kids might not care; my girl is all about the details, so that bugged her about the other books!) At the end, there's a few pages of games as well, so this is balanced between story and games, unlike other books that are more heavily one or the other. One game has the child matching words starting with wh, sh, and th with their beginning sounds, which is a great early literacy activity. The other games were good too!

If your little one likes Cars and Tag, then you can't go wrong here!
