5.0 out of 5 stars Lifesaver!
Purchased the 'Click Start - My First Computer', and after opening, noticed the main base needed large batteries or an AC adapter, while the keyboard needed batteries, ( Keyboard uses only AA+ ), as well. So, if you are thinking of purchasing the Click Start - you may wish to go the extra mile and get an adapter as well - Will save on having to get batteries for both...

1.0 out of 5 stars LeapFrog ClickStart My First Computer Adapter review
Basically the adapter proved useless. The computer flashed a low battery warning on screen every 3 seconds when it was running from this adapter. I ended up using a universal adapter, purchased for $[...] running at 5V instead.

The adapter really is a must have for the clickstart. You can use batteries, but it takes four at a time, and it's really not worth the hassle. I bought the cheapest batteries I could find, and it still cost me two bucks. I only did that because Walmart didn't have the adapter avail and I didn't want to make my child wait a week for this to ship. Keep in mind, the keyboard still requires batteries and doesn't have the option for an adapter, but that uses less power. I'll just use rechargables for it. So, I figure w/in a month, the adapter will pay for itself.

Bought this to go along with my grandson's leap frog click start computer. It plugs into the back of the game terminal so that you don't have to rely on batteries to keep the fun going. I recommend this because it works!

The adapter was bought for the click start game. We prefer using the adapter over use of batteries. It has been working just fine.

I totally agree that this adaptor should have come with the system. I didn't even know that the adapter was optional until I read a review for system. I purchased the adaptor asap and was glad I did.

This is a no-brainer and should just come with the system in the first place. The system sits in my family room by the TV permanately so it's nice that if the kids leave it on and I don't catch it I'm not spending so much on replacement batteries.

Works GREAT! It would be better though if it came with the ClickStart system instead of us having to buy it.

If you have the Zippity game system from leapfrog then you need this. The wall unit uses 4 "C" size batteries. My son constantly leaves the game system on and it can dran the batteries in under a week. 4 batteries = $5, you do the math.
