This toy does what it says it's going to do and has two modes of play and my daughter loves to push the big button and get sounds. However...the reason this is not getting a 5 star is due to some of the choices this company made.

The one mode recites the alphabet and that's ok. The other mode gives the name of an animal and it's sound. This is where it gets ridiculous. Some of the complaints I have is that instead of coming up with unique animals there are many renditions of birds on this. There's like five bird ones. In an effort to have them all say something different, the sound the child is taught that it makes is musical notes. The iguana apparently plays the xylophone. The yak says, "Mooo," which every other toy teaches as the sound for a cow. For N, the animal is a narwal, which makes splashing sounds. Some of these sounds are very hard for children to repeat back and it doesn't actually teach the child the actual sounds the animals make. I get that it's challenging to come up with a unique animal that corresponds to A-Z, but in my opinion, some of these choices were a fail.

I'd get it if you want your child to be entertained by song and noises, but not to teach your child animal noises. Also if you're child might easily become confused, I'd go to a see-and-say that may have fewer choices but has better ones.

The AlphaZoo Spinner is a terrific product. I gave it to my niece and nephew when visiting them (1 and 2.25 years). They both loved it. They were totally captivated by the spinning rainbow of letters and animals. A great way to learn about letters, and the names of animals that start with each letter of the alphabet. Each animal also makes fun animal sounds...the kids especially loved the Zebra sound effect. They had a great time pressing the large yellow sun button and watching the wheel spin. They quickly figured out that you can also move the wheel directly to a specific letter or the song spot. This is a total gem of a product!

I bought this for my 12 month old daughter. She likes to spin the wheel without even pushing the big yellow button mostly because she hasn't figured out yet that she has to push it pretty hard to get it to work. She likes it because it makes noise and sounds. It's not her favorite toy but she does play with it now and then. My biggest complaint about it is that some of the animals chosen to represent the letters are odd. For example there is bird for the letter "U" that I've never heard of in my life and I'm not even sure what the voice is saying ... "Umbrella bird" maybe? Also, the sounds that go with each animal can sometimes be random and really not have anything to do with the animal and sometimes it's just the narrator making the sound rather than having the actual animal sound. It's not a bad toy but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else for their child.

My 11 month old loves spinning the wheel to hit letters and animals....but I've got to hand it to leapfrog....some animal noises are hilarious.....a yak goes "moo" the zebra goes "woot woot" , and I never realized there are no "regular" animals that start with the letter "n" :)

Super cute toy with lots of great sounds .. you can learn letters, the sounds of the animals are voiced by a person so you can try to make the sound yourself - with silly results sometimes that will make you and your kid laugh.. Its like a learning toy and a game. Cute present too - got a lot of excutent when I brought it as a gift last week

Most people buying children's toys just want to know if it works and will continue to work. I bought this as a gift and the child still has it a year later. It still works. My niece really enjoyed it, I don't know about every child.

I find it completely bizarre that they include various insects and animals that don't make a noise so they "say" what I can only describe as a cell phone ringtone. I understand there aren't good options for for every letter but they use caterpillar instead of cat or cow, as other reviews mention. It's very disappointing from an educational toy company that makes so many good toys.
The toy itself is decently made and has held up well for over a year or being tossed around and dropped. The wheel is a bit flimsy and the sections are narrow, making it easy for a smaller kid to bump it off the section they are trying to listen to. She doesn't mind not getting to hear the whole recording, but I think it would be better if it stuck in place a bit better. Occasionally, it will have a bit of a glitch and not say an animal it lands on. That happened straight out of the box but is pretty rare.

Overall, the kid is happy with it so I'm happy but I wouldn't buy it again or recommend it. It's just too stupid to purposely teach them wrong information, no matter how trivial the information is.
