Does Not Work with Leap Pad 2
on January 2, 2013
I wish I had read the reviews before buying this for my son. He is 4, and loves Pet Pals 2. He got a Leap Pad 2 and 3 games for the holidays, and Pet Pals was by far his favorite game. But as others have described, the software is incredibly buggy. It constantly freezes, which is really frustrating for a kid. The only way to get out of the app is to take the batteries out of the Leap Pad.
I called customer support, and they wanted me to "Repair" the Leap Pad, and clean the Pet Pals cartridge with a Q-tip. Of course, neither of these ridiculous attempts were successful, as a Q-tip does not fix buggy software.
On my second call, they offered to manually push a new copy of the software to my Leap Pad. I asked if it was an updated version with bug fixes to the software. After being put on hold, I was told that they are still working on updates to the game, but they do not have any timeline as to when the update would be released. So, in the meantime, I could pick some different Leap Pad game off of their site, and they'd send it to my device.
I used to work for a software company, and I have to say that it's totally unacceptable to be selling software that simply won't run. I know that software sometimes has minor bugs, but they must be so minor that it doesn't actually effect the workings of the software. Something so buggy that it won't even run is completely unacceptable. I'm very disappointed in this product and in Leap Frog for selling something that doesn't work.
