Wonderful! Leapfrog does it again...,

We already have 2 fridge toys by this company (the animal matching one and the uppercase letter one) and I was so impressed that I sprung for the DJ toy. Our 12 month old loves hanging out in the kitchen but the above 2 toys were a bit beyond her and I wanted something that she could operate easily that would keep her amused. She's taken to carrying it around the house and dancing to the music when the feeling strikes her. Her 3 yr old sister and her have had a few fights over the toy as the educational information appeals to the older child. Pros: + Numerous songs - not just one annoying one, but 3 difference 'stations' with multiple songs + Educational - I love that it teaches upper AND lower case with graphics + Graphics: although simple (looks like a scoreboard) the graphics dance around to the music and keep their interest + Easy to operate for the baby (one button to press) + Music - not bad, kinda jazzy; they slowed down the alphabet song which is great for character recognition + Can use it on the fridge or carry it around Cons: + Music sounds kinda tinny (but for $19.99...what do you expect?) + My 12 month old tried to use it to help her stand on the fridge but the magnets weren't strong enough and she slid down with the toy + Kinda heavy for it's size - just fell on my 3 yr old's foot. Lots of complaining I highly recommend it!

Great for a toddler!,
This review is from: LeapFrog Fridge DJ Magnetic Learning Radio (Toy)
My 15 month old got this for Christmas. We keep it on the refrigerator and she listens and dances to it often. It keeps her occupied while I make dinner/lunch or clean up. She loves the songs and can 'flip through them' to get to her favorite. There are three 'buttons'. One to turn the toy on/off and select volume, one to select the mode, and one to select a song within the mode. The 3 modes are letters, numbers and music and are selected with a dial like switch. The letter mode has 4 songs...3 of which are the alphabet song. The first time you press the button, you get the alphabet song with uppercase letters being displayed on the LED screen, the second time, you get the lower case letters along with the song, the third time you get uppercase letters being displayed and the alphabet song plays with only the melody (no words). The fourth song is 'Annie OOh'. The number mode has 3 number songs and the Music mode has 5 songs...Old MacDonald, Take me out to the Ball Game, Twinkle Twinkle, Itsy Bitsy SPider and Pop Goes the Weasel (none with words). To change songs, there is simply a push button that is easily mastered by any child. The LED display is somewhat entertaining. My daughter has not yet mastered the dial to change modes, but I am sure she will soon. This also has 2 voume settings which is a plus. I highly recommend this, especially for any toddler/baby that seems to like music.

Worth the Money!,

When I first considered buying this toy, I thought it was a bit pricey. I went for it anyway and my 11 month old son just loves it. It is very durable! When it plays songs, the screen lights up with different "pictures" that go with the music. For example, when it plays Old MacDonald, the screen shows "pictures" in red of a tractor, a duck, a dog, and then E I E I O, in accordance with the song's words. It does not sing words though, it only plays the music, giving mom or dad a chance to sing the words, or make them up if they aren't known, for baby's entertainment (or not!). Once I saw all it could do I decided it was well worth the $19.99 I paid for it, and it gives our son something different to do when I'm in the kitchen.

Great Kitchen Entertainment,

This is a terrific addition to our collection of LeapFrog and other magnets on the fridge. I bought this as a gift for my daughter's first birthday and she just loves it. She carries it around dancing and grooving to the songs, kinda like a mini boom box ... It's easy enough for the littlest fingers to handle and they really have a sense of accomplishment when they can get the songs to change with the push of a button or the turn of a dial. As a bonus, my 3 year old is learning his alphabet.

Great toy!,

My 16 month-old son loves this toy, both on & off the fridge. One great feature about it is that it turns itself off when not in use. Great to keep toddlers safely busy in the kitchen while you're cooking.

There are two pull-tabs for the battery; one on the front of the packaged toy (so you can hear a sample-about 5 seconds- of the music), and one on the back of the toy itself (so the songs play all the way through).
I've never seen TWO battery pull-tabs on any toy, PLEASE don't make the same mistake I did and return the item without pulling the second pull-tab. Leapfrog doesn't mention the second tab on the packaging. All you need to do is cut the tape on the side flap of the box, slide the toy out w/the cardboard it's attached to, and pull the plastic tab. Then slide it back in and close the box. The package is completely unharmed and giftable. After learning this I give this product an A+!!!

Fun little Fridge DJ,

My 18 month old loves this thing. She stands in front of the fridge and plays all the buttons. We have no problem with the magnets...it sticks like a champ. When we first bought it, we thought it was a dud because it would only play the song for a few seconds and then fade out. The instructions don't tell you anything and we looked at the back of the machine and couldn't find anything. Then I gave it a real good look and I saw this little bit of plastic strip wedged inside the machine in a slot. I had to use a little screwdriver to get in there and dig it out. It was probably part of some kind of plastic tab that keeps the batteries from wearing down, but they only put part of the tab in when it was manufactured. Finally got the little piece of tab out and it plays fine now.

SOLUTION to Getting Out of Demo Mode,
A Kid's Review
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: LeapFrog Fridge DJ Magnetic Learning Radio (Toy)
I downgraded my review, due to the moronic Demo feature, which is virtually impossible to figure out. Here's the solution: there's a zigzag slit to the right of the batteries. For our package, there was no pull-tab. So, we got tweezers & pulled out a clear plastic tab (about 1/4 of a postage stamp), found in this slit. Now, you should be able to hear the songs in their entirety. LeapFrog toys are fine, but their packaging designers are sadistic.

We absolutely LOVE this toy. I bought it for our daughter for Christmas when she was 18 months old as a distraction for her while I cooked dinner. It seemed like it would be something fun to manipulate with all the noises and lights. However, we were pleasantly surprised with the variety and quality of songs and with our daughter at the age of 2 now, we credit it with teaching her to count to 10 (all that repetition), the alphabet and basic phonics. At age 2, she still plays with it all the time and our 4 1/2 year old plays with it just as much.
The songs are catchy and the fun thing is that they don't realize they are learning...it's just FUN! I would HIGHLY recommend this toy for you and as a gift for other children.
