5.0 out of 5 stars Adorable - Great Crib Toy
Baby Tad is just adorable. My 13 month old just loves him. We use him as a crib toy.

I really like the 6 minutes of nightime music - puts my son right to sleep.

This toy keeps my son occupied for quite a long time in the mornings when he wakes up.

It also has a voice control switch - IN THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT!

Baby Tad is worth buying.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok-not great
The idea of this toy is good, but it turns off in 5 seconds if your baby doesn't push the buttons fast enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars Who couldn't love Baby Tad?, December 7, 2005
This review is from: LeapFrog Hug & Learn Baby Tad Plush (Baby Product)
I bought this for my son before he was even born and now at 21 months he still loves it as much as when I first gave it to him. My son is very interested in music and really can't get enough. Baby Tad plays all his favorite songs and has helped to teach him his colors and shapes as well. Each time one of "his songs" plays, he looks at Tad and then at me with this huge smile and big laugh to say "he knows MY song"! It's a great all around toy that will not only bring lots of laughs and giggles to your little munchkin but also teach them new skills! I also LOVE that I've never had to change the Batteries from the ones it came with - finally a toy that is NOT a battery hog!

My niece is now 7 months old, and absolutely adores Baby Tad. His buttons are easy to push, he's very stimulating, educational, and durable. The baby loves watching the different shapes light up, and enjoys Tad's songs. Her face lights up when she sees him. He is very easy to clean, too. He is by far her favorite toy, and I would highly recommend Baby Tad.

My baby girl has loved "Baby Tad" since she was three months old. As an infant they love to watch the lights and listen to the sweet songs it plays. Baby Tad has the sweetest voice and cutest face, which both appeal to baby. Whenever baby is fussy, when I bring out Baby Tad, she just smiles and hugs him. My little one is now almost eight months old and this is one of her favorite toys. When my 2 1/2 year old neice comes over, she goes right for Baby Tad and carries him around the house all day. She too loves the lights and music but also learns the colors and shapes that Baby Tad teaches. It is a great toy and learning tool and I am buying it for all of my parent-to-be friends.

We bought baby Tad for our sons first Christmas last year because of all the neat features it has for a battery operated toy. Tad stays in his crib and is used for nap time and bed time. We use the lullaby feature the most. And when our son wakes up in the morning, he plays with Tad until hes ready to get up. This allows us a few extra minutes in the morning. I dont know what we would do without Baby Tad. We love Baby Tad so much that we are buying one for our newborn son for his first Christmas this year.

Bought this for my child's first birthday. He loves the songs/lullabies and the flashing lights. Helps children recognize shapes and colors and speaks to them. The volume has two different adjustable settings. It's a nice, educational, soft plush toy and I think Tad's cute. I love LEAP FROG products.

My daughter recieved Baby Tad when she was 11 months old. She absolutely loves him. Baby Tad plays songs and tells colors in the daytime. Then at night you can play music for up to 6 minutes. This is a good learning toy for baby. Baby Tad has went everywhere with us from a car ride to a plane ride. He tells the child that he loves them. My daughter loves to give hugs and kisses to Baby Tad. I would recommend it anyone with a toddler. It truly is a life saver at times when your child will get fussy. We love our Baby Tad!

I bought Baby Tad for my son when he was just a few weeks old. We could not decide which mobile to buy for his crib, so we bought Tad instead. He's been lulling our little prince to sleep ever since. (11 Months) The daytime mode is great. I especially appreciate that the songs are sung by a child-like voice. Many toys on the market now speak or sing in grown-up or "computer" voices. Leap Frog did a great job in recognizing that children respond to and are soothed by other children's voices. We get most use out of the night time classical lullabies. The sound quality is amazing. It's soft, relaxing, soothing music. The lights on Tad's bib light up individually in time with the syphonies. It's very soothing; especially in a darkened nursery.

One thing I wanted to point out was the battery life. Don't buy the cheap batteries. Go ahead and buy the good ones. Tad lasts a long time with the good ones; not so long with the cheapies. The good ones lasted us over 4 months this last time with everyday use. The cheapies last a couple of weeks, and make Tad work irratically when the batteries get low.

In short, buying Tad for my son was money well spent.

5.0 out of 5 stars an enduring favorite, February 23, 2003

Baby Tad is one of my 11 month old daughter's favorite toys, and has been since she got it at around 5 months. She has several interactive musical toys that light up, but baby Tad is the only one that she can cuddle and lay on. She still needs a little help sometimes with the sing along, interactive mode (pushing the small buttons within the time limit takes some coordination), but there is also an instrumental, "nighttime" mode that I can initiate for her to watch and listen to alone for up to six minutes. His voice is sweet, not irritating, and he also has enough variation in songs to keep him from driving parents crazy. She loves this toy so much I took him on the plane with us for a 14 hour flight to visit family, and was VERY glad I did. He was the only thing that soothed her for long stretches of time and kept me and the rest of the passengers sane, and his volume control let me adjust him so no one could hear the music but us.

I only have 2 complaints about this toy.

1. He can only be surface washed, though he seems to come clean relatively easily.
2. He cannot be completely turned off without removing the batteries, which is a chore. This means that if any button on him is touched at any time, he starts singing. You can press his foot to shut him off, but he'll keep getting reactivated. This is rarely a problem, though I do have an amusing memory of my 6' 3" husband walking though the airport carrying a duffel bag that was merrily singing "If you're happy and you know it."

Leap Frog toys are really some of the best on the market, though my sister's kids have the alphabet version of this toy, and we both agree that Baby Tad is much better. I would definitely recommend this toy, or give it as a gift.

My daughter, who is developmentally delayed (micropreemie), received this toy on her second birthday 8 months ago. It is by far her favorite toy! I love it, too! Her 4 year old brother has fun, also! The sound quality and voice clarity are great! At first, she could not figure it out, but quickly learned how to squeeze the hands to make it work. She then quickly progressed to learning to do the left hand for nursery rhymes (Tad actually sings them...not just music like many other toys) and the right hand for classical (which is on a great timer!) Just recently she learned to "search" for Brahm's lullaby to be the first song played. I swear her first words will be "Hi! I'm Baby Tad!" =) I was very excited this past month when she learned to push the button on his chest that was flashing and hear the color and shape.

About 6 weeks ago the right hand stopped working. I called Leap Frog and they had me mail Tad in. I received a new one, even though the warrenty period was over several months ago. It was hard to part with Tad while he was at the "hospital". The toy is super for the car! And don't miss the volume button inside....'cuz he's VERY loud on the high setting!

Overall, this is a great toy! I think my daughter just wore his right hand switch out.
