I had purchased this toy long ago. My daughter, then was almost 4, now she is 7 going on 8 and still loving it. Now, my young lad is playing & learning with it too.
As a mother of ADHD/ODD/OCD children, I know first hand how hard it can be to keep a child's interest.
The evening we bought LeapPad home she sat for almost 4 hours. This has been a tremendous learning tool for her, not that she had any trouble learning. That wasn't it at all. What was going on was she was and still is learning very fast for her age. She can learn at her own level. I try...lol to keep up with levels above her but she is right there.
This product like I said is tremendous!!! I love the fact that such a toy can be attractive to the eye where children want to play with it. I love it that as they are playing games they are also learning and they don't even know it.
I would recommend this product to any child....the average child, a learning disabled child and a child that is above average.
GREAT JOB LEAP PAD!!!

My 6 year old LOVES her Leap Pad! We bought it for her last Christmas, but she did not show much interest at first. During the summer she took it in the van with her and she got to where she would not go unless she could take it! Now she uses it all the time. She is learning to recognize the words, and loves playing the games too. The only thing I wish the electronic pen were more durable; if the leap pad starts to slide off of her lap she tends to grab the pen and the weight of the leap pad makes it easy for it to come away from the pen. Would be nice if it was "wireless". I highly recommend this great educational "toy" for any 5/6/7 year old!

NOT ONLY WAS I IMPRESSED BY THE ADVERTISEMENTS FOR THIS ITEM, WHEN I PERSONALLY WENT INTO MY LOCAL TOYS R US STORE, AN EMPLOYEE IN THE TOY DEPARTMENT, PERSONALLY GAVE BOTH MYSELF AND MY SISTER-IN-LAW AN EXTENSIVE DEMONSTRATION OF THIS TOY'S (AND I HESITATE TO SAY TOY BECAUSE IT IS REALLY AN EDUCATIONAL WONDER) CAPABILITIES! MUCH TO OUR COMPLETE JOY, WE WERE AMAZED, SPEECHLESS, AND WELL-INFORMED! AT THAT MOMENT, WE BOTH REALIZED THAT NOT ONLY WAS THIS A "MUST-HAVE" FOR OUR FIVE-YEAR OLDS, BUT FOR OUR OTHER CHILDREN AS WELL! (NOT TO MENTION WE LEARNED, OR SHALL I SAY "REMEMBERED" CERTAIN FACTS ABOUT MATH, THE HUMAN BODY, ETC., THAT WE HAD LONG FORGOTTEN - HE DEMONSTRATED WITH SEVERAL LEAP PAD BOOKS). I RECOMMEND THIS ITEM NOT ONLY AS A WONDERFUL GIFT BUT ALSO AS A MUST-HAVE! I bought this for my kids to share last year (ages 3 & 4 then, now 4 & 5) and they love it. I leave it in the car and it entertains and teaches them as I drive. The only problem is that they love it so much that I have to buy another one because they both want to use it at the same time. So I am planning on buying the pink/purple one for my daughter this Christmas.

My daughter is developmentally delayed & loves her LeapPad. She takes it with her everywhere she goes & enjoys the fact that it talks back to her. She's learned alot about numbers and letters and now says full sentences. A great educational toy A+ to Leap Frog.

I bought this pink leap pad for my three and a half year old daughter today and she loves it...Still has to learn a couple of things about it but other than that this toy is so much fun..I do however wish that I had purchased an extra one or two books to go along with this item because the two books it does come with only have very short stories in them and are basically a sample of the leap pad...

I purchased this toy for my daughter's 4th birthday because she was having trouble remembering her letters. After a week of playing with this toy, she has already memorized most of the alphabet, including the lowercase letters. What a great toy! I can't say enough good things about this system. I only wish it wasn't as popular as it is, because it's hard to find some of the more popular books!!

My 4 year absolutely LOVES it. She already knows how to read from pre-school and we think with the Leap Pad it will only advanced her in her later years in school..it's the greatest ever created for toddlers!! Recommended every parent getting one for their child!!!!!!

I think this is a great learning tool. My 7 year old has been using hers for 3 years now, and my 4 year old just received her own for her birthday. These are well worth the money since you can advance the teaching with the books.

I bought a pink and purple LeapPad for my daughter when she was three for Christmas. She is five now and still plays with it every single day. Everytime a birthday or Christmas rolls around she asks for more LeapPad books. This toy has been a godsend during car and plane trips, hotel and restaurant entertainment, and any other situation when children need to sit still.

She has learned the alphabet, numbers, spelling, and reading from countless hours on this pad. She owns several books and each get used all the time. I think this is honestly the best toy invented in a long time. She has been able to figure it out because it is well thought out for the young user. They can hit the stop button with the pen to stop it, or hit the Go button to continue each story. Each book also has games and other activities, so they are well worth the money. It is impossible for my daughter to get bored with it because each book is countless hours of reading, games, music, and excitement.

I encourage all parents of young children to buy this LeapPad. It is well worth the money. It is a toy that they will not grow out of in a short amount of time because the books range in ages. It is not only educational but very durable. Our LeapPad has been dropped countless times and is still intact. The only complaint I do have is that it tends to consume batteries quickly and you need a screw driver to take off the cover to put new ones in. Other than that, that is the only negative I have to say about the LeapPad.
