5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny.
Bought this for my 3 year old daughter who gets a new toy just about every other day. As a result, she is really spoiled and will typically discard her old toys for the latest present. Not so with the Leappad. She loves it! It really is neat. The books that come with it are great -- one asks you questions, like your name, favorite food, favorite color, etc.; you talk...

3.0 out of 5 stars So so.
This seemed like a good concept and the reviews are great, however none of my kids (age 2 to 5) have ever had any interest in it, despite buying LeapPad books with their favorite characters such as Thomas the Tank Engine, the Lion King, etc. I've been amazed however to learn that starting at age 3, kids are quite proficient on a real computer, even on their own, with...

Bought this for my 3 year old daughter who gets a new toy just about every other day. As a result, she is really spoiled and will typically discard her old toys for the latest present. Not so with the Leappad. She loves it! It really is neat. The books that come with it are great -- one asks you questions, like your name, favorite food, favorite color, etc.; you talk into the microphone; and then it uses your responses throughout the story. The other book is about a frog (the Leapfrog?) and it has a story and games -- like rhyming games -- and helps out with your letters (something she is very into right now). She also has a PowerTouch system, and while she will tote that out from time to time to play a song from Blues Clues or Elmo, she never had much interest. I have a feeling this is something that she's not going to lose interest in or outgrow too quickly. A steal for $20!

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST TOY MONEY CAN BUY!, January 11, 2005
This review is from: LeapPad with Microphone (Toy)
This is by far the BEST toy I purchased for my children this Christmas. I actually purchased it in exchange for the InteracTV that I was very disappointed in. Boy am I glad I did. All four of my children, ages 2, 3, 8, and 11, have fun playing with this Leap Pad. And I love that it will last them for years, and is also compatible with the Quantum books.
I bought my 11 year old his first Leap Pad when he was 5, and paid over $50 for it, but he used it for years. The Leapfrog company even sent me a new stylus when the original no longer worked. Unfortunately, after years of being banged around, our old leap pad now doesn't read cartridges, and I decided to purchase a new one. This particular Leap Pad with Microphone is worth every penny! When your child points to a red dot, it asks a question like, "What is your name?" "What is your favorite food?" "how old are you?", etc etc... and incorporates your child voice into the story. Easy enough for my 2 year old, but fun enough for even me! I'm so glad I returned the InteracTV and bought this instead. (Same price at my local Toys R Us!)

This review is from: LeapPad with Microphone (Toy)
This is a DEFINATE MUST HAVE! My kids LOVE the fact that they can hear their voices reading what is written.... I have bought like 3 additional microphone abled books. They are a BIG HIT in this house hold. We buy lots of leap frog products, and this one is my children's favorite. They could play and play and play.... I love the fact that they like this item so much! It is suppose to help with fluency and it does, my daughter absolutely loves reading and is doing wonderfully with this item.... To give you an idea what products we have from leap frog: My first leap pad, original leap pad, leap pad with microphone, and quantum, and the leap pad plus writing, turbo twist, spelling and a brain twist one, 2 leapsters which my kids love too! 40 some leap frog books......imagination desk, leap frog princess computer....This one is my families FAVORITE other than the leapster! Hope they come out with more microphone type books...A+++ leap frog! Keep up the AWESOME job!!!! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Daughter loves this new leap pad, July 22, 2005
This review is from: LeapPad with Microphone (Toy)
We have all of the leap pad systems, little touch, my first leap pad and the regular leap pad. This leap pad is the one that gets played with the most (the least is the little touch....but that is another review) If debating between this pad with the microphone or the regular leap pad....by all means....pick up the one with the microphone. Microphone leap pad plays regular leap pad books as well as the microphone books. My 4 year old daughter and 2 year old son LOVE to hear their own voices. I bought this item for I believe $19 on sale here at Amazon and it was a steal compared to the other systems. Now they need another sale on the microphone books!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars wow, November 13, 2005

This review is from: LeapPad with Microphone (Toy)
My 7 year old and my 3 year old love the LeapPad. I have to get a second one now and this one has microphone (no noise) sounds great to me. I was very impressed with the regular LeapPad without the microphones. This has got to be the best toy for children and parents.

This review is from: LeapPad with Microphone (Toy)
My 5 year old son loves to play with his new LeapPad, he is learning spelling and so much more. The best part is he has cut down on TV time because he has more fun with the LeapPad.

5.0 out of 5 stars very pleased!, July 27, 2005
This review is from: LeapPad with Microphone (Toy)
was skeptical, since i don't like to spend a lot of money esp on toys, that are interesting only for a day or so, and never touched again, but since the price was half off, I decided to risk and give it a try. my 3yr old daughter LOVES it! she plays w/ it all the time. it's been about 2months and i'm surprised she hasn't gotten bored with it yet! my only wish is that the pages were "little brother proof", as he always gets to it, and wrinkles and even has ripped the pages. maybe they'll invent something a little more durable , like vinyl pages or something in the future. other than that, i'm VERY pleased!!

Not only was it inexspensive but being able to have the interaction and hear your recorded name and personal information used in the games were just amazing. Young children will love to the the leap frog call them by their name.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, September 17, 2005

This review is from: LeapPad with Microphone (Toy)
I bought this product for my 5 year old daughter, who has just started Kindergarten, to enhance her reading skills. I must say that I am quite impressed with the product's user- friendliness. She is learning to read better while having fun with the educational, skill building games included in each book. She especially enjoys the microphone feature, which allows her to hear her own voice at different intervals during a story or game featured in one of the books. By the way, my 8yr and 10yr old children also have fun helping their sister to learn with this Leap Pad. All in all, a great product, that I feel will grow with my child for a long time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great toy, August 2, 2005
This review is from: LeapPad with Microphone (Toy)
My daughter loves it. We have many books and an old reader, but since the price was right, we just bought it.
Note: I checked at the local Toy'sRUs store and the price was more than double. When asked, their associate informed me that they do not match prices offered through their internet store. Lesson: Never buy anything in a local store. Always check on their internet store.
