Ours came without all the parts, and Leapfrog won't replace it,
This review is from: LeapFrog LeapStages™ Infant Learning System (Toy)
This toy was shipped to us without the second, third and fourth stage cards. Because it is a new product, Leapfrog has no "replacement parts" and so can't send me the rest of the stages. Nor will they send me a replacement. You might want to buy it in a store where you can open the box to make sure it's all there.

Good toy,

My son received this toy when he was 3 months old. Now he is 9 months old and he has enjoyed it at every stage. There are four stages and a card to go with each stage. At stage 1, he loved listening to the classical music and batting at the plastic things while laying on his back. At stage two, we altered the stand so that he could sit up and play the "baby senses" card (which he loved and laughed hysterically at!) Now at stage 3 he stands up and pushes the plastic things to make consonant sounds. The only complaint I have is that now at 9 months, he is very interested in pulling the card out of the slot and chewing on it which confuses the system and the mouse on the card will "oink" occaisionally. They should have made it a little more difficult for a baby to get the card out of the holder. But overall, it was a good buy.

Songs get a bit annoying...,

I love this toy, and so does my 5 month old, but the songs get waaayy overplayed. There are a few different cards for different age ranges, but my baby loves all the cards. There is a card that has 3 songs on it, and it your baby keeps pushing the same button, "The Rainbow Song" can take it's toll on you.... Her favorite card is the one that teaches baby senses, she loves to hear the baby giggle. I wish they made other cards for this toy, then maybe there would be more of a variety of songs..My daughter would rate this toy a 6, i give it a 4.

Abby loves classical music!,
This review is from: LeapFrog LeapStages™ Infant Learning System (Toy)
I am a big fan of the leap products. They seem to be indestructible. This is my third child and she just loves the stage one classical music and will lay under it for 45 minutes at a time and watch the lights and listen to the music. It is very sturdy (didn't break when my 4 year old used it as a bench). We are looking forward to using the next stages throughout Abby's continuing development. The instruction are my only complaint. They could have been a little more helpful, but used only pictures to describe assembly procedure. Was not too complicated thank goodness but the piece that puts the legs onto the main part was a little difficult to figure out.

My son just turned six months old, and he loves this toy. His face lights up watching the screens, and he loves pressing the levers. It's the perfect size for him to sit at, too. It was a bit of a challenge putting it together, though, and for some reason it says not to use rechargeable batteries in it. But we are very happy with it.

Don't take a gamble with this toy,
This review is from: LeapFrog LeapStages™ Infant Learning System (Toy)
This is such a boring toy to my son. I have even tried to seem excited about it when I bring this toy out, but he was completely uninterested from the start. Also, at 3 months old, he couldn't even press or grab onto the levers. I thought maybe he was too young so I would keep trying it, it didn't seem to matter though as it seemed to get less interesting as the stages progressed.

Disappointed,
This review is from: LeapFrog LeapStages™ Infant Learning System (Toy)
I purchased this toy as an alternative to my son's activity gym. He was almost 3 months old when I bought it. It was frustrating because he wasn't interested in stage 1, but liked stage 2. Stage 2 starts at 3 months, but your child needs to be able to press the levers himself or you have to be there the entire time to press them for him. It just didn't keep him interested like his other toys do.

Our daugther absolutely loves this toy. She has had it since she was 8 weeks old. As soon as we put her under it she starts to smile, coo, and kick. You can decide if you want the music to play for 5, 10, or 15 minutes. She will sit under there for 15 min. at a time easily, and LOVES it. She stares and smiles at the black and white shapes that light up.It's great b/c it has 3 other stages we can move onto as she gets older. Very cute toy! It calms our little girl down immediately!

Great toy for the youngest infants!,

My daughter loved this toy from the time she was only 2 months old - even when she was too young for the most basic toys. The lights and music keep her attention, and the music is enjoyable for all of us. Durable, educational, and versatile (since it has different cards for different developmental stages) - I love this toy!!!UPDATE: My daughter played with this toy until she was about 3, and even now (she is 5) we still sing the "rainbow song". We handed it down to a friend's son who didn't enjoy it AS much as my daughter did, but still got LOTS of use out of it. The toy still works like the day we took it out of the box. I suppose your experience may vary, but I swear by this toy. (Okay, I wish it had more letter cards and/or song cards, but it's still great, and the black/white classical music was genius!)

I got this as a gift at one of my Baby showers, so my son has had this toy since he's been 1 mon. old! I was able to use it right away with the stage 1 card, and he seemed to really enjoy the classical music and lights. We used it a lot when we played on the floor. As he grew, it's been so fun to watch him discover all the different sounds and music that he can make by playing with this toy!! As with any toy that makes noise, this can get a little annoying when your child figures out that they can make the toy make noise! My son is now 1 year old and is using it now more than ever. I wish there were more cards for this toy, like there are endless video games for a game council. That is the only thing. Because your child can use this toy from birth on up, I feel that this is a very worth while purchase. |
