Nostalgic, but not very interactive,

First let me say I love Schoolhouse Rock; I can still remember the songs ("Conjuction Junction, what's your function..."). The videos are the ones I remember, but would be easier to see on a television screen. However, we have a number of Leapster cartridges now, and this was the most disappointing because there is only one game. In this game, a part of speech (noun, verb, etc) is listed at the top, and the player chooses from among 4 words which is the part of speech they are going for (i.e. if the top says "noun" the choices might be "run, big, red, and ball"). My daughter liked the game, and liked that there was a two player version, but would have liked more games; that is what she is used to with Leapster. If I had looked at the packaging more closely, I probably would have purchased a Schoolhouse Rock DVD, and a different Leapster game.

Birthday Disappointment,

We bought this item for our daughter's birthday because she loves Schoolhouse Rock. After opening it and playing we discovered it was just the songs and one game? When you read about what is offered it says "games", we only found one on the whole thing, guess we misunderstood the whole principal of the cartridge. I ended up returning it because if I wanted her to watch the videos I would buy the Schoolhouse Rock DVD, which we did. Anyway, thought we should share this because when you read about it you expect games that have to do with the songs?

Big rip off,

With five kids under the age of 9 and four Leapsters in the house, there is rarely a time when someone isn't playing one (if not all!) of them. We have about 10 of the cartridges, and this was the most disappointing (followed closely by Spiderman). There simply isn't enough for them to do with it. The beauty of the Leapster is the ability to interact with the games, and learn while they do it. Watching a video on a 2 inch screen just doesn't cut it.

Both of my kids 3 and 6 like this game. The little one just listens to the songs smiling and singing the last word of every verse(very cute),but the 6 yr old is learning them and answering questions about noun, pronoun, verbs, and adjetives and she is in kindergarten. I could not be happier when she shows me how many she got right, when they are not even close to learning that in school. Some complain that is only one game, but it uses the info that kids learn in all 5 songs for that one game. Even when my 3 yr old uses it for the songs/cartoons only it is still better than carring a portable dvd player or two in the car. And my daughter gets to play Schoolhouse Rock America in her leapster while he has fun with his.

All the kids love the Leapster. This is a fun learning game which is great. We also have the SHR videos so the kids are familiar with the songs. The 2 SHR games, I Spy and Animal Genius are their favorites by far.
