5.0 out of 5 stars Ka Chow and off to LEARNING!, June 27, 2006
This review is from: LeapFrog Leapster Learning Game Cars (Toy)
My son is 4.5 yrs, loved the Cars movie and now loves this Leapster game cartridge. I had to pry it away from him after 3 hours of playing on the day he got it. It is a wonderful learning tool for kids 4-6 who are working on letters, words, spelling, phonics and numbers. The games are really fun and exciting, the characters have authentic voices from the movie, and there are multiple games to play. I would give this game cartridge an A+, worth the 24.99 I payed for it. If you have a child who loves Cars, they will love this! I even enjoyed playing the tractor tipping game as I raced down the track as "L. McQueen" and watched in my rear view mirror to make sure "Frank" wasn't on my tail.
Another great cartridge is the Letters on the Loose.
Have fun and Ka Chow!

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun Movie-Based Game, August 2, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: LeapFrog Leapster Learning Game Cars (Toy)
My 3.5-year-old son enjoys this game on long car trips and waits that might otherwise seem unbearable. I find that it's not as educational as "Letters on the Loose." I had hoped, but really didn't expect it to be. It's based on the movie, and I suspect it was put together very quickly to both promote elements of the movie and try to make it in keeping with some of their other products. It's fun, and there's nothing wrong with a dose of entertainment here and there.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dull video game - little educational value, December 28, 2007
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: LeapFrog Leapster Learning Game Cars (Toy)
This cartridge allows the child to choose from one of several race tracks to "race" on. Unfortunately, the activities or goals of each track are very similar. You either steer left or right to choose a letter/number/symbol. More time is spent on speeding up to grab a coin, jumping over oncoming dangers, or speeding ahead. As such, the educational value is really limited, while the video game aspect is what might keep a child playing. There is really no depth and very little thought behind each track. My son was bored immediately. It reminded me of an old-fashioned video game from my youth (70s). Very very disappointing. We bought this cartridge with the Disney Princesses cartridge for my daughter, and there is no comparison. The Princesses cartridges allows one to use the pen as well as the arrow keys (with "Cars", only arrows), has memory games, practice drawing letters, recognizing words beginning with letters, and many more, varied, learning exercises, while at the same time using fun graphics, stories and songs. Don't waste your money and your child's time on this cartridge.
