4.0 out of 5 stars Great video, but probably not for children over 3.
My daughter loves this video because it is fun to watch, but she just turned 3 years old and she pretty much knows almost all of the content that they are trying to teach. They go over simple counting, some shapes, colors, and paterns. The only thing that was new to her was the skip counting. 3.0 out of 5 stars For Under 3
Only counts up to 10, which most 3 yoa or older already know. I have twins that are 3 years and 5 months(boy and girl). They watched it one time and would not watch it again. Compared to other Leap Frog DVDs, this one does not compare.

My daughter loves this video because it is fun to watch, but she just turned 3 years old and she pretty much knows almost all of the content that they are trying to teach. They go over simple counting, some shapes, colors, and paterns. The only thing that was new to her was the skip counting. She still loves the video and asks to watch it just about everyday, because she likes the whole space travel concept. Overall a good video. I would recommend it for children under 3 though.

--Adding somthing trivial--

Tad the main character's voice in this video is very annoying. In the other videos he has a cute toddler voice, now he sounds very whiny, kind of like complaining about everything. This is not a knock on the video, but I thought I would mention it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Educational and fun to watch, March 1, 2010

This review is from: LeapFrog: Math Adventure to the Moon (DVD)
My son is two and is counting from 1-10, so I wanted to get a good educational video for him to watch while I am cooking dinner, etc. This was perfect! He also loves the idea of outer space, and blasting off to the moon, so that was a definate bonus. He has watched this numerous times in the last week since it arrived, and after only seeing it once asked to watch it again the next night. He had a friend over this weekend who loved watching it as well, and he tends to be a little more picky about what he watches, so that says a lot. It has everything, from beginner counting, to adding, to patterns, so it will be around for several more years in our household. Plus Amazon had this item for $5 cheaper than another site, and you can't beat that! If you are looking for something educational that will keep your youngster entertained, then this is perfect.

This movie introduces a bunch of basic math concepts, including counting (regular and by 2's, 5's, and 10's), number recognition, patterns, sorting, etc. My 3 1/2 year olds really enjoy it, and I think each time they watch the movie, they pick up a little more.

I little too advance for my 3 year old, although he watches through it and loves the songs and parts of it. A little too much info in one video.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not in the same league as Letter Factory, September 11, 2010

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: LeapFrog: Math Adventure to the Moon (DVD)
I purchased Letter Factory and at 15 months, my daughter knew the alphabet and the sounds of all the letters so I have nothing but the highest praise for LeapFrog. I bought Math Adventure to the Moon as well as Talking Words Factory and I can only say that I was disappointed in both.
This video has none of the qualities that made Letter Factory so great.
It takes a long time to get to the actual information and wastes time with music videos that have no content beyond, "Come on the learning path". The voice talent chosen, especially for "Tad", is so abrasive it almost makes the video impossible to watch more than once. There is entirely too much time spent trying and failing to be clever and cheeky. Lastly the information that actually is being imparted is done badly and is poorly defined.
I'll try more LeapFrog products but I can not recommend this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Helped My Son Recognize His Numbers, October 15, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: LeapFrog: Math Adventure to the Moon (DVD)
We had some of the letter Leap Frog DVDs (which are excellent) and wanted to try this one to help my son with his numbers. My 4 year old son could count to 29 on his own but he had trouble recognizing his numbers by sight. This video helped him learn his numbers in a week. It teaches shapes, colors, and patterns also. The counting is taught by 1s and by 10s and now he can count all the way to 100 with just a little help from mom and dad.

For the entertainment aspect, he LOVES this one. We have the Math Circus too but my sons don't request to see that one much. They love blasting off to the moon!

Highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for children 2 and up, July 12, 2010
This review is from: LeapFrog: Math Adventure to the Moon (DVD)
I bought this for my son just after he turned 2 and he still asks to watch it all the time,he is now 2 1/2. He loves the who outerspace thing of course. He has learned how to count 1-10 with this video. He was having a hard time recognizing numbers and understanding that they are different than his letters. He now understands that numbers are fo counting and not for spelling like his letters. This video has also taught him how to sort by colors and shapes, he love to play the bonus game in the bonus features where you have to sort the shapes. It's a fun video and there is a section where they show math problems of different ways to add up to 10 which is a little beyond my son right now but I am sure he will grasp that as well as he continues to watch this video over the next yearor so. I would recommend this video for any children 2 or older.

5.0 out of 5 stars Catchy songs, fun story, very engaging - great purchase!, June 30, 2010

This review is from: LeapFrog: Math Adventure to the Moon (DVD)
This is a good one. At first I wasn't impressed - I only heard them counting to ten in the video. But, a little deeper in, they introduced skip-counting; first by twos (up to twenty), then by fives (up to fifty) and then by tens (up to one hundred). That was pretty cool. The other thing I appreciated was that they showed a few different ways to add two numbers to get to ten. Tad and Lily did this by adding same-colored space rocks (the rocks look suspiciously like brightly colored jello cubes!) to get enough rocket fuel to return to Earth. Pretty good concept. Patterns were also introduced (I think it was "star, space rock, star", "star, space rock, star"). The pattern was used while Tad & Lily and Edison (a lightning bug) are journeying into outer space and flying by these objects. What I liked about this is that, on their return trip they get lost, and find their way back when they see the pattern and follow it back to Earth. Nice that they also snuck this piece in - pay attention when you are traveling somewhere, and it will help you to find your way home.

This movie keeps the kids engaged, and they can easily watch it twice in a row, happily. It's definitely been on our frequently viewed list.

One thing to note if you are a Leapfrog fan and have other Leapfrog products that your kids love - Tad and Lily look the same age/same height in this video. Some of the earlier Leapfrog videos (Talking Words Factory, Letter Factory, Code Word Caper - all GREAT by the way) have Tad being the young one, with two older, taller siblings (Lily and Leap). The change didn't bother us, but it might be frustrating for some viewer who have had a stronger attachment to Lily in other Leapfrog videos. You might need to say that this is Tad's twin sister, Lily, who was off visiting Grandma & Grandpa during the other videos, and, yes, isn't it funny that both of Tad's sisters have the same name?!
All in all, we rate this one an A+!

Leap Frog makes learning fun.
My son loves all the DVDs but this one focuses on math - I thought at 5 he would be too young, but he really has learned from it.
Great Buy!
