I bought this for my three year old daughter because she saw the commercial.... I was skeptical about buying another talking toy. However, this shopping cart was a snap to put together and it is sturdy and durable. My daughter loves to play the games by selecting the requested colors/food products, and is so proud of herself when she gets them correct. She also enjoys dancing to the music that it makes when you push it along. I would recommend this toy for all preschoolers. It is very educational, yet so fun that the kids don't realize they are learning!

First the positive- this shopping cart is fun. The words are easy to hear and very clear. The message is positive when you do what you are told or when you are just scanning for fun- 'All Right'! It is not so loud that it is annoying. This toy is also great for encouraging counting and recognition of colors and food items. Second the not so positive- This is not like a real grocery cart-there is not a place to put dolls and purses for pretend shopping. The cart is very small with very little place to put groceries. The thing goes through batteries like crazy. And finally, the little frog 'little leap' falls off of our cart and doesn't stay put in place. I look for toys that are fun and easy to play with. I look for toys that are durable and will survive hard play of three or more kids (since that is what I have in my home). I want toys that will encourage exploration of the world and imagination. I look for toys that do more than talk or make noise at the push of a button. This is a fun grocery cart. However, I would rather have had a plain grocery cart without the talking and games. I would rather have had a grocery cart that had a place to put a doll and that would hold more groceries. This is what my children wanted, but this is what they got for a gift. If you have children that are imaginative and you want a grocery cart for pretend play, this is most likely not the cart you want to buy. I also find that this grocery cart does not live up to the Leap Frog name for quality and educational items. Before you buy this cart, decide why you want a cart. If you want one for pretend play, look at a different cart. IF you want one that will help teach your child, I'd consider some of the other Leap Frog items like the Leap pad before buying this toy.

We bought this toy for my son's 2nd Birthday and he loves it. It is very durable and with stands not only the "crash" test but also the "climb" test in our house! Our son has played with the cart regularly for 4 months and we have not yet had to replace the batteries. It has even been left in the "on" position for several days.

I recently purchased this for my son's second birthday. The shopping cart was extremely easy to put together. All the adult guests at the birthday party had a great time "playing" with this toy. My two year old loves this as well as my five year old. Not only is this a great educational toy it is also a great toy to pretend with. I have two sons so I appreciated that this shopping cart was not pink or purple as many household type items are. My older child is teaching my younger child colors and numbers as they shop and share together. We also have a toy kitchen that they can use to pretend to cook the foods they shopped for. I am really thankful for Leapfrog making such a durable toy that is educational and above all afforable and fun.

A Good Cart But...,

My two year old son got tired of it very quickly. While it's more educational than your run of the mill shopping cart, I feel that it's a bit limited in its educational value. I guess if your child doesn't already know colors and numbers then it would be more worthwhile. It's not a good cart for pretend food shopping because there isn't much room in the cart. The worst part is that the volume is right on top by the game selection. What were they thinking?? We ended up putting a piece of tape over it because my son had more fun turning up the volume than he did "shopping" with the cart. I love Leap Frog products but this isn't one of our favorites. I think a child would have more pretend fun with an inexpensive cart and a bunch of different types of play food.

I bought this toy for my daughter, we have had this toy for over a year now . Both my daughter as well as her 5 yr.old brother love this . It's actually one of the favorite toys to play with by all her friends and cousins. And it's educational value is wonderful as you scan the food from the cart not only do you get the name but also fun facts.Ex. strawberriers have 200 seeds and milk comes from a cow and is white but yaks milk is pink. There are games as well. This is one toy none of the kids ever get bored with. And come away with so much from playing with it.

Lots of fun,

My 14 month old daughter loves pushing this cart around (although turning corners is harder than with other push toys), and my 4 year old son loves to scan the items and play the games. The basket is big enough for the items that come with it, but if you wanted to put other toy foods in, it might be too small.
Goes great with the Leap Frog cash register.

My son learned to count to 10 with this toy. He loves counting along with Leap. It has a catchy tune to sing along to. I know he can grow into this toy beacuse it has different modes for more advanced activities. He can also push the cart along (all little kids love pushing toys around) and pretend to shop. The food blocks are very cute and realistic looking. The wheels on this cart work better than any other shopping cart I have seen and its pretty sturdy. My son sometimes balances himself on the undercarriage of the cart...has not broken yet. Good learning toy!

Buyer Beware: Toy EATS Batteries!!!,

My 2-1/2 year old son absolutely loves this shopping cart. It is a wonderful, educational toy. HOWEVER, this cart goes through batteries like crazy! If the toy is left on by accident (which often happens in our home), the batteries drain as it has no automatic shut-off. We were replacing the batteries every couple of days. Finally, we were so tired of replacing them, we just let him play with the cart and food (no batteries). He likes to play with the cart this way, however a lot of the educational benefits are lost. Because of the battery drawback, I would not recommend this toy. I'd recommend buying one of the other hundreds of toys that can teach numbers, etc. and just buy an "old-fashioned" non-battery operated shopping cart.

There was a great satirical customer review of this product that also reflects my opinion of it as well. However it appears that Amazon chose to censor it. I have less trust in the value of the Customer Reviews if they are being censored.
