5.0 out of 5 stars Definately IS customizable
We were able to put my 5th grader's spelling lists into the toy via the leap frog web site. This is the feature I like best about the toy. You will need the Mind Station to do this and a membership to the never ending learning club ... .So consider buying the package mind station+turbo twist to save money. It is a much better way to study spelling than pen and paper and...

2.0 out of 5 stars Good Concept, Bad Marketing and a Money Pit
This is a good educational concept...BUT... The Brain Quest does NOT work with the cartridges that you buy at the store. You have to buy a cartridge programer ([$$$]) plus blank cartridges ([$$$]) and subscribe to the web site ($$) to get the downloads, plus more.
Bottom Line: A MONEY PIT.

Look at Sony and Nintendo. They use the same concept and they keep...

I purchased one for each of my grandchildren and they both love them. So does their mom, especially when they are in the car and quietly playing instead of the usual bickering. I would highly recommend this fun way of learning.

5.0 out of 5 stars Turbo Twist Brain Quest Edition is Cool!, November 4, 2002

I got this toy only a couple of months ago for my birthday along with the 5th and 6th grade cartridge and find much of its content challenging. Some questions are simple, like 'In what state is the Great Salt Lake located?' but others are more complex, like some English and Social Studies ones. I haven't tried it without the cartridge yet, though. This toy is based on the little Brain Quest flipcards for specific grades. If your child is a fan of those, and likes Turbo Twists, then I think that this is the toy for you!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great, educational toy!, December 7, 2003

My 6 yr old is very interested in learning to spell and this has helped him. He especially likes the missing letter game. There are many levels to conquer before cartridges become necessary. Those just broaden the learning experience without having to buy another complete toy! LeapFrog toys have been very popular with all my kids(6, 4, 3) and have helped in them in learning independently.

After spending $.. on Brain Quest and $..on a Math cartridge for my son, we were all extremely disappointed to find out, even though they look exactly alike execpt the color, they are NOT interchangeable. My son can not use the Math cartridge until we go out and spend another $.. on a Math Turbo twist. I have searched the internet and the store and it was not obvious to me that this was the case. If I could I would return all these products. I certainly will Not be buying any more.
