3.0 out of 5 stars buy the books instead
The cartridges erase whatever data you downloaded from the LeapFrog site the time before. So, if you order the online package and print several sets for your child, you must download the pages your child wants to play each time. You would have saved time and money in the long run to have bought the books themselves.

We have been using the MindStation with our Leap Products for the last few months and can now get our seven year old to review his spelling list without the usual arguments/protests.
These products are awesome. We now have the leap pad and Turbo twist math in addition to the Turbo Twist spelling to use with these programmable cartridges. I disagree with one of the other reviewers about the price. These are an excellent value. You can go online and create your own spelling / math reviews (based upon your childs class assignments) and then transfer them to the cartridges for use in the toys anywhere. You can use the cartridges over and over again by simply reprogramming them. Our son now learn math and spelling while riding in the car. Now if only someone would come up with something like this that would work in a gameboy!

I called the Leapfrog company and found out that the cartridges are not being sold in stores yet...I have three kids using the toys, and one cartridge just insn't enough. The overall performance is GREAT!! My daughter has improved her spelling of commonly used words overnight, and my son is loving three-digit addition. The toys/cartridges offer a chance to make learning even more fun by saying the childs' name and customizing the curriculum to his/her needs. I love it!!Good luck!

I've been looking all over town for this cartridge and the gold one. I even went to Toys R Us in New York City and they didn't have any. I think this is a great idea but I feel the cartridges are just too expensive...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for customizing leapfrog products, January 17, 2007
This review is from: LeapFrog Quantum Leap Never Ending Mind Station 2 mb Reuseable Content Data Cartridge LeapPad, Turbo Twist (Toy)
We originally received this as a gift for use with the LeapFrog LeapPad and we did use it to download a lesson for that item. It did require a subscription at the time, however with the purchase of the Mind Station we received a free subscription. When downloading lessons for the LeapPad you need to down load the software onto the cartridge and print out the sheets, which was okay, but my child seemed to enjoy the books that are purchased at the store better. So the Mind Station sat there for a while, until I bought the Turbo Twist Spelling. Talk about a great product and now I can customize the Turbo Twist to his weekly spelling test with the Mind Station and the cartridge for free. I just bought the Turbo Twist Math and plan to download lessons for that as well, which are also free on the LeapFrog web site. So now I think I am going to need to buy more cartridges, but I definitely think they are worth the price.

We got the Mind Station that came with this 2 MB Cartridge.
We used them, and entered my son's spelling words for the week and are using it in the Leap Frog Sprelling. He loves it! We are going to put in his spelling words each Monday when he gets them. What a great way to learn and practice the spelling words!
We are now ordering 3 or 4 more Cartridge to go with the other Leap Frog Learning items we have.

I bought this product to upload my daughter's spelling words to her Turbo Twist. However, the manufacturer neglected to say that Leap Frog no longer supports the Mind Station so the cartridges are worthless.

Very disappointed.

I use this cartridge to allow my kids to use their weekly spelling list when playing with their Twist and Spell toys. They have fun with them and trade them back and forth. Even my 5 year-old plays with them.

Here is my experience with the 2MB cartridge and Leapfrog.
I purchased the Mindstation and it came with one of these cartridges. The cartridge worked about 10 times at one use per week and then was useless. When I contacted Leapfrog, they never responded to me. This was all about 2 years ago. As a note, back then, it was free to download custom spelling lists. I wrote the whole bad experience off and we stopped using the Leapfrog products because my son's interest died with the cartridge.

This Christmas, my daughter was now old enough to use the Turbo Twist Spelling that was retired 2 yrs earlier so we broke down and bought a new cartridge in hopes of reviving this toy. I don't know if the cartridge works because now it costs $18 per year to download a custom spelling list to the cartridge. The cartridge only cost $15 and now I have to invest an additional $18 every year for the pleasure of loading in my own spelling lists. In effect, I have a $15 paperweight. The inability to use this product without a paid subscription is not communicated to the consumer anywhere on the packaging that the module came in. Had I known this, I would have not wasted my money because given the past, I don't expect this thing to last to the end of the school year. I can just as easily invest in PDA for my daughter that is infinitely more expandable and just as cheap when you add everything up. A Zire with a Shareware spelling program from Kidware is only $40 more than the whole mess, and she will still have an organizer that she can play with and expand with other programs when she moves out of Elementary.
