5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Toy From Leapfrog
My daughter is 10 months old and absolutely adores this toy. She loves books, whether she's looking at the pictures or chewing on them and this toy is great for both. It's very durable. My daughter has banged it and dropped it frequently and it's still going strong. The story is read out as you turn each page and your child is asked to match the block to the animal...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not all it is cracked up to be...
This had the potential to be my son's favorite toy. It had all of his favorite things, pages to turn, sound, and a block to fit places. However he became VERY Frustrated at the fact that you move the page even a little bit and it would start reading all over again. He liked to hear the song, but as soon as he would touch the page to get leverage or whatever, it would...

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Toy From Leapfrog, September 3, 2003

My daughter is 10 months old and absolutely adores this toy. She loves books, whether she's looking at the pictures or chewing on them and this toy is great for both. It's very durable. My daughter has banged it and dropped it frequently and it's still going strong. The story is read out as you turn each page and your child is asked to match the block to the animal they're counting on that page. Then the next page switches animals and adds one more. By the end your child has counted up to five with five different animals. You can also play the song on each page which is a Leapfrog version of Old Mac Donald. . It is a cute story that will help your children identify animals and numbers up to 5. When your child is finished palying the block goes in place and the book has a lock tab to keep it in place so it doesn't get lost. There is a handle on top which makes it easy for my daughter to grab and carry around. It's great for at home, but works especially well in the car or over Grandma's house. The colors on my block aren't fading as some of the other reviewers noted, but this seems to be one toy my daughter doesn't chew on. It's educational, durable, and easy to clean. I have a few other Leapfrog toys and they all are wonderful. Another Leapfrog toy that I'm exceptionally happy with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun!, January 7, 2003
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: LeapFrog: Tad's Counting Farm Smart Block Book (Baby Product)
This is good fun for parents and babies alike. As your child turns each sturdy plastic page, the story is read out by a computer voice. Alternatively, the unit can be switched to 'singing' and a song is sung for each page.
The pages go from one to five and ask the reader to find Tad's Cow, his pig, and his sheep etc. A cube with pictures will need to be turned by baby to so that the pig is facing the front and the baby will be told if he has found the correct animal. The animals go up from 1 cow to 5 sheep and help baby learn numbers.
Educational and enjoyable, and the song (an altered version of Old MacDonald) does not grate as much as some electronic toys.

4.0 out of 5 stars my son loves this, November 17, 2003

My son got this for his first birthday and at 18 months it's still one of his favorite toys. He presses Tad to hear the song over and over again. And he can put the block in to hear the animal sounds though he can't match the animal on the block with the one on the page yet. I forsee at least another year of delight with this toy.

However he became VERY Frustrated at the fact that you move the page even a little bit and it would start reading all over again. He liked to hear the song, but as soon as he would touch the page to get leverage or whatever, it would start to read. This book ended up getting thrown all over the place because it made him so mad. After a few months, I ended up giving it to my nephew. The concept is great, it can just be frustrating to a little one when they want it to do one thing and it keeps doing something else...

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of Pre-Reading Fun, November 29, 2003

My 17 month old received this for christmas last year and he hasn't stopped playing with it. He was 5 months old when he got it and laughed at the "chick chick chick" songs. Now he knows the animals and can match the right animal to the correct page. It is a good learning toy because it looks like a little book and the voice reads the words on each page. He still enjoys this toy - much more than many others he has received since then.

I got this for my son when he was almost 10 months old. It is a cute little version of Old MacDonald. It has 5 pages of counting animals and matching an animal block to hear the animal's sound. I think the age on this toy should be 12 months and up. At 9 months, it seemed a little advanced. The story, sounds and block were cute but they just seemed a little involved. Overall, a good toy to grow into but I would wait until your child is a little older before buying it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great interactive book!!!!, August 30, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: LeapFrog: Tad's Counting Farm Smart Block Book (Baby Product)
This book is really great it makes toddlers want to help Tad find the various animals that he has lost on his farm, and it teaches counting. The song Tad sings is also very cute (I'm farmer Tad and I have a farm.....) My son is still a little too young to find the corresponding animal in the story, but he likes to watch others, and help press it down to make the animal sound. I totally agree with the other reviews about the decals coming off, my sons are already too. I try to keep him from putting the block in his mouth, but anyone with a 10 month old knows just how easy that is!!!!!! I'm sure he will love this book even more when he is older & can use it all by himself. Great product....especially on car trips!!!!!

My daughter is 18 mos and has had this toy for over 3 mos and plays with it every single day she has managed to learn how to put the cube in the storybook and loves flipping through the pages and as she continues to grow I think this toy will continue to be one of her favorites. It is easy to carry and it all fits together nicely it is also durable as my daughter has put it to the test many times by throwing it off her high chair. It also does NOT go through batteries as quickly as other toys do. It has been one of the best toys I have bought her! Well worth the money especially since it can keep her entertained for hours!

From the mom of a very, very busy 18 month old, let me just say this toy is tremendous! There a few things my son sits still for but this is one of them. It's so cute and has great learning values plus its very durable. I highly recommend this toy.
