LeapFrog Tag Junior Book: Thomas and Friends-Best Friends

When I saw this Tag Jr. Thomas Book was finally available for sale ($10.99), I got it for my 3-year-old son, who LOVES Thomas. I have many books in the Tag Jr. series and thought he would enjoy this one. I'm surprised to say he still prefers some of his other Tag Jr. books (Curious George, Dora, ABC Orchestra, Ni Hao Kai-Lan) more than this one. There are one to two sentences on every other page and just Percy and Thomas are featured. Thomas is picked to carry cargo that Percy wants to carry, so it deals with emotions and friendship. If your child is at that stage of learning, I'm sure this book will be educational in that regard. My son just liked to tap Thomas and Percy with the Tag Jr. Reader and turn the page. I think some of the other jr. books I mentioned before are more engaging because they have more elements on the page. This book just has a sentence or two, nothing else. It's a nice addition to any collection, but if you are just rushing to buy this book solely because it features Thomas, you might want to wait until it's cheaper or until your child is ready for such concepts as empathy and concern for other's emotions.

Part of the Junior Tag Books which my son loves but unfortunately themes in this one is a little bit old for him at the moment (he is only turned 2 a month ago) so it his least used book even though Thomas is is favourite!. Will probably wait till he is nearly 3 to get out again

my nephew Aidan got this for Christmas. He hasn't put it down. I am looking to buy him some more of these.

This book is great for children learning to read when used in conjunction with the leap frog tag junior device. Even without the device the book is enjoyable for young children, however, when used with the device a whole new meaning and experience is provided when the book is perused by children. My son is 4 and reads this book using his tag junior on a daily basis. All of the leap frog books that go along with the tag junior have proved enjoyable and entertaining for young children! While I do not feel that my son is going to learn to read with this system, I do believe this system is allowing him to develop a love for reading at a young age!

My son is 2 and he got the Tag Reader for christmas as well as this book. (it is a Tag Jr. Reader book but is compatible with the Tag Reader)My son asks for his "Pen" and Thomas Book all the time. He listens to the story and then goes back and hears all the fun sounds and sayings. It keeps him entertained, I have a hard time getting him to use any of the other Tag books.

Our three year old uses his LeapFrog Tag Junior when sitting on the potty waiting for something to happen. It's like a reward for being patient on the potty. Many of the lessons are a bit below him (colors, numbers, etc.) but he still seems to enjoy the control he has over the LeapFrog.

My son loves this book! It is one of his tag junior favorites and continues to be after a year. He loves that the tag junior plays the Thomas theme song and the storyline is a great one about friendship and helping each other compared to sme of the other Thomas stories out there.

A mist have for those Thomas train lovers or just a really great book about helping your friend!

my 2 year old has several of these leap frog tag jr books and she just loves them all. very educational, too.

Don't know if my twins are learning from it, but they certainly enjoy "reading" this book with the little tag. They have other tag books but are in a "Thomas" phase and this one is their favorite. They don't seem too interested in other books, but Thomas keeps their attention.

My daughter (2 year old) loves trains and Thomas the Tank Engine but does not like this book. The story seems a little too complicated for her to follow and the illustrations do not seem to grab her attention. With her love for books and trains I thought this would be a sure winner but unfortunately not. I'm hoping when she gets a little older that this will become one of her favorites or at least be of interest to her.
