5.0 out of 5 stars My 3 yr old daughter loves to get active and learn....
I got this for my daughter since she was too young for our wii. It is great to see something available for preschoolers that is designed for this age group. She has learned her colors, increased her coordination, and is getting better at decision making. She also loves playing with the "big bopper" while driving the spaceship on Little Einstiens and jumping on the...

I have a 3 year old boy and I am constantly researching the next best toy. I am not a fan of video games but I thought something educational would be nice and fun for him. I looked at the Leap Frog website and watched the video on the Zippity even before it came out. The videos and the overall write up looked great so I we got it for him for his 3rd Birthday. We got it at Bjs so it did not cost that much, I think it was $65 plus the Cars game was $24. The games that came with the unit were dull and boring. He lost interest after one use. Cars was okay but again, not the most captivating concepts and the graphics were fair at best. When others children come over, they all want to try and they too are bored with this product. We have another child on the way and maybe he would like it when he is younger. My 3 year old is unimpressed, just as my wife and I, are unimpressed with this product. I am actually a fan of Leap Frog and their products but this one, to me, is a waste of money. Maybe they will come out with other games that are better but for now, I think the Wii is a better option. I am a huge fan of consumer reviews and read many before making decisions. I hope this helps others. Good luck with the toy buying process.

3.0 out of 5 stars Unimpressed, August 3, 2009

I bought this toy for my 3 year old because he is too young and not coordinated enough for the older games. HE enjoys playing with it but I am afraid it will get boring for him. The activities are extremly simple and don't seem to grow as the child's abilities grow. I also found that the level of interaction was low that he was not really in charge of making things happen. For example the characcters play instruments even if he just stands there and watches, likewise he can just stand and watch the car he selects win the race in the cars game. No cause and effect. I am hoping that the associated games will be more variety and challenges for higher developmental levels.

She also loves playing with the "big bopper" while driving the spaceship on Little Einstiens and jumping on the matt. The learning and games are just the right speed for her growing mind (and body). Really great graphics and stereo sound..cool.

2.0 out of 5 stars Returning item today, August 29, 2009

Cute and filled with Disney characters, but not much else to like. The big joystick (or the game itself) has a mediocre response to child's movements, and the games are slow and repetitive. The relatively few cute or fun segments were far outnumbered by the lackluster ones. Being returned considering the price of system and cartridges.

5.0 out of 5 stars My daughter loves it!, October 7, 2009

We purchased Zippity for our 3 year old daughter and she loves it. The Level 1 is just challenging enough to get her going and to teach the concepts of the games. Level 2 is where the thinking skills really come into play. We've also purchased the Cars cartridge as well and in that game we've discovered that Level 1 is the challenging level for our daughter right now. We've had this game for about a month now and it gets played about every other day and has held up nicely. I highly recommend it, especially if you have a child who is interested in playing video games but isn't ready for the "big kid" stuff. The graphics are decent for this type of toy as well and the games are cute.

My daughter begged for a Zippity for her 4th birthday. I was concerned that it would not be much of a challenge for her given the age range suggested on the product, but went ahead and got it for her to try. I should have listened to myself...both levels are too easy, and because I bought it on Amazon I cannot return it. So, less than 2 weeks after my daughter's birthday it's packed away. I does have potential, but for a much younger crowd.

1.0 out of 5 stars The worst game ever purchased, October 20, 2009

I bought the zippity for my 4 year old as a birthday gift and was sorely disappointed with this LeapFrog product. We have loved most of the LeapFrog games, like the Leapster, but this has got to be the worst game/toy I have ever bought. Do not make this mistake - the games are completely boring and I have to help my child use the joystick to start the games. Find any other toy and it will be a vast improvement.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, November 30, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: LeapFrog Zippity High-Energy Learning System (Toy)
My wife and I ordered the Zippity as a present for our 2-year-old and 4-year-old boys. We just recieved it and decided to try it out ourselves before giving it to our boys...and I have to say that we were both very disappointed with the technology. The pace of the games seemed very slow, and the games wouldn't respond to any quick action on the pad (such as fast stepping or hopping). As far as we could tell, the pad's IR transmitter would only send about 1 signal every second or so to the receiver, and there needed to be a pause between actions or else the game wouldn't recognize that we were doing anything on the pad. For example, if we hopped more than once per second on the same spot, the game would register the first hop but none of the subsequent ones...it seemed to think it was just one long hop. There are times when the game would ask us to "keep jumping faster!", but we really needed to jump *slowly* (at less than 1 jump per second) or else the game wouldn't know we were jmuping at all. Our 2 boys love to jump *fast*, so I don't see how they could enjoy following the slow pace of these games. I'm sure that our 2-year-old would enjoy seeing Mickey Mouse on the screen and not care about the pad's unresponsiveness, but it does bother me and my wife that the hardware isn't more sensitive/responsive...it makes the games not feel very interactive. And since it seems to be a hardware limitation, I doubt that additional/future games will be any more responsive than the included ones.

So, unfortunately, right now we're planning to return this without ever giving it to our kids, and we need to find something else that thay may like instead. I wish that there was a more responive alternative that was also educational like the Zippity.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for high energy kids! Great for special needs too!, May 1, 2010

This has been one of my best investments for my 3 kids. I am considering buying one more! My kids are very high energy children and they love this. It's a perfect workout that is also very educational for them. Great for the winter months to get them active when it's too cold outside. We live in Wisconsin! This has helped with my 4 year old daughters learning all the way around. My 2 year old is also learning quickly with this. We are using this as a reward for potty training and it's working. My oldest is 9 and has high functional Autism and he plays with it. Has helped him out with some of his learning delays. It's durable for him which is great because he's on the bigger size for his age. One thing I found useful is buying the corded plug in. Will save you on replacing batteries and it's pays for itself after a month. I highly suggest the Zippity! It teaches coordination. Along with other pre school learning. There is 2 levels So it can be even more learning. I love this!

5.0 out of 5 stars LeapFrog's Zippity saved our Christmas and continues to thrill..., January 13, 2010
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars

My husband and I purchased the Zippity plus the additional games as a Christmas present for our 3 and a half year old daughter. Thank Goodness! Santa brought our daughter a Bike, and some other fun things, but it rained torrents all day on Christmas so the bike was not an option. She played the Zippity throughout the day, shared it with other family members, and had fun exploring the games. The entire family watched the "Katie" Zippity show as she danced, jumped, raced, hopped, and skittered through the games. Since then she still plays the games, at both levels 1 and 2 and asks for them about every other day or so. She learned her alphabet, letter sounds, and is beginning to read thanks to the Leap Frog videos, it only made sense to try Leap Frog's Zippity as her introduction to television based video games.

We're looking forward to more games as they come out.
