is the LeapPad too 'babyish' for my 5 and 6 years olds? They are asking for them but I'm not sure....

That's a good question. You might want to look at the LeapFrog "apps" to see if too simple for your children. The 5 year old is probably fine but not sure that there will be enough of the "apps" appropriate for your 6 year old. Hope this helps .. and happy holidays ...

It depends on their skill level. The games are more designed for 3-6 year olds. By 7, children aren't getting a whole lot of educational value from the tablet. My 7 year is a little behind in his reading so he is still learning through these apps. I think you would be better off with the kindle since you would have more options for learning opportunities. Plus, the kindle would last them through adulthood (much better investment)
