This a great book to have in your library of Tag books. My son has several of the books for the Tag system and this is one of the favorites. He also happens to have this in the board book version, that he's had for several years. So when he got this for the Tag it made the story come to life, and his letter recognition got even better. I would recommend this book, because the story is in rhyme and has a nice beat, if they decide to dance while they are reading. In addition most of the pages have games for them to play that are all educational. Such as the first page, it may ask you to look for the "letter that spoke to B". If you know the story the first page starts off with "A told B and B told C, I'll meet you at the top of the coconut tree". This book is well worth the money, especially as a starter for the Tag system. It helps with letter recognition and learning to read.

This book is a classic as far as I'm concerned. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is due to the voice/reading. He reads the book almost like a song and pauses at certain times which sometimes makes my daughter think it is time to turn the page. Nothing horrible, but just wanted to mention it in the review! I would definitely still purchase the book, though! The whole TAG reading system is great!

I loved this book, my kids both love to read it with their Tags, 3yo and 5yo. They are used to the song done on a Scholastic video, so the deep man's voice in a poem instead of a song was a surprice, but they listen to it over and over.

Love this story, love the narrators voice. I'm pretty sure it is Gregory Hines, but can't confirm. The kids (4.5 yrs) LOVE this book and now have it memorized!

My 2 year old was already a "chicka chicka boom boom" lover - especially after watching the video by Weston Woods on youtube and having me read the book to her 100 times...but this added a whole new dimension to the experience. The letters make adorable sounds and the music is a carribbean beat which matches the coconut tree theme. The speaker's voice is lyrical. Lots of sound effects - and the back pages have the alphabet written out, so a child can play a fun game finding different letters (and includes lower case and capital letters). A huge hit! Very colorful. Also, not really that much more expensive than the "regular" (non-Tag) version of the book, so I think it's a great idea to buy this one.

I was a bit worried when we bought this as I was concerned it would not be used or it might be used as a game instead of an educational toy to help with reading. I had nothing to worry about! This was bought for my daughter who is 5 for her bday and both my 3 year old son and her always fighting for it! It's definitely worth the money and I have ALWAYS enjoyed leapfrog toys. We have most of them!!!
It not only can be used to help with reading but also has audio so the child can hit a "button" on the page and it reads the page for you. Also, you can use the Tag Pen to select the pictures on the page and they all say something. Pretty neat tool!!

I loved the idea of introducing this classic to my children. My two boys just love it. I couldn't speak higher of the Tag system. My four and two year old both use it. My only gripe is that I'm just waiting for the pages to get torn, I know they will be eventually. Such a shame, for a $[...] book. We're teaching careful handling, and as long as it holds up, this book will be in our favorites pile for a long time.

The book was in good condition but I was a little disappointed with who obvious the previous use was on the pages. However, otherwise, it was in good condition as described. Aside from having to wait a day to get premission from the seller to return it, it was absolutely no problem to return. This book was indended to be a present, but had all ready been purchsed by another person.
