I bought this for my five and-a-half year old so that we could work on her reading and math skills over the Summer. We received the item about 3 weeks ago, and it has gone EVERYWHERE with us! She even SLEEPS with it! I am so impressed with the things that she's learning already! She used to ask me the answers to the math questions until I showed her that the 'boxes' were there for checking herself.
She has progressed (according to the LeapFrog Connect screens) to a second grade level and hasn't even completed Kindergarten yet!! I LOVE the Leapster and cannot sing praises high enough.

The Leapster2 we purchased was a gift for a three year old. She has enjoyed hours and hours of play. (Thank goodness we later bought the adaptor so it runs even when she runs out of batteries.) It is very sturdy. Her dad was carrying it when he fell on the ice and it went skittering away. He required several stitches. The Leapster2 didn't have a scratch on it and the game, still inside, was unhurt. Wow--something worth buying!
