5.0 out of 5 stars Very educational and fun too!
Each animal on every page has something neat to say. Clicking on different items causes something fun to happen- a game, a funny sound, a puzzle, or a song.

This is a good review of number recognition, counting, shapes and sizes (big and small), same and different.

I can't say that this is my son's favorite LeapPad Book, but he certainly plays with it quite a bit...

3.0 out of 5 stars Mot much of a challenge compared to My First Leap Pad
I bought this book for my son's LeapPad as part of a bundle. He is 4 1/2 and up until recently had been using a My First Leap pad. When it broke, we replaced it with a "regular one." I had expected the activities to get harder, but this book is pretty basic. All but the very last page of activities deals with numbers 1 through 5. The final activity includes numbers up to...

IF your child can already recognize numbers, count to ten and knows his shapes this may be a bit elementary for your child. However, my two year old has found it challenging enough to keep him entertained and interested for an hour (really!) and has enjoyed this book over and over. For him this is a great review/teaching lesson since he still in the process of learning numbers.

The final activity includes numbers up to 14 and is the only one my son really likes.

The story is very simple and finishes with a little song. My son has always been more attracted to the games than the stories on these things. We discovered with some dismay that the "Aisle 1" page really only deals with the number 1 (kids are "challenged to find "one" blue shirt, one pink bow, etc.). You can guess what happens on Aisles 2-5.

While I can't fault the game for having good activities for teaching kids how to recognize what the number symbols look like and for getting very basic counting exposure, I really think they could have made this book more challenging. I would recommend this one ONLY if you have a 3-4 year old who has never had a My First LeapPad and who does not know how to recognize number symbols at all.

My three and a half year old likes this book a lot. Since she already knows her numbers, colours, and shapes, she can complete the games on each page with no problems. The games are not so hard that a child who does not already know numbers cannot enjoy the book. I would say that this one is a must have.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another great Leap Frog Product, February 16, 2003

My 4 year old daughter has had her Leap Pad for almost two years now and she really enjoys it and I like that it is educational (so much junk out there for little ones nowadays!!!).

I bought her "Tad Goes Shopping" for her birthday. She already knows how to count, recognizes numbers, and a few other basic skills so this is good reinforcement for her.

This book is not her favorite but she plays with it a lot anyway. So does my two year old.

The only problem is that the books are spiral bound and they tend to rip when little hands get too excited.

I would HIGHLY recommend ANY Leap Frog book!!

Learning math can be fun. And learning shapes and colors. This book does all three. Kids play games that encourage shape recognition, counting, matching, colors and lots of fun. My daughter (not quite three) loves this book, especially the hidden numbers. I highly reccomend this book.

While I am an advocate of the Leap Frog line of products, this one was advertised in such a way that I believed I was getting a "whole product." Unbeknownst to me (1st time Dad @ 50), this was an accessory to a product that requires the initial purchase of the e-book, etc. While I have had nothing but praise for Leap Frog products and will probably seek out the components to use it, it was disappointing...and a lesson learned re caveat emptor; buyer beware.

My 4-year old received this as a birthday present. Although it's not really challenging, it keeps her refreshed on numbers and such and the story is cute. Leap is just a wonderful product.

I bought this book for my sun who is 3 1/2. he didn't really care about it that much even when I was playing with him. The system is kinda booring. I guess that's why Leap frog stoped selling it.
May be it's more appropriate for older kids.

As with all of the Leap Pad products, my family is very pleased with the educational background. My daughter enjoys herself while learning. She has said numerous times that she has learned it from her Leap Pad. We began teaching her basic addition and Leap is teaching her more.
