I have the 'clear plastic' color but... same difference.

The cheap plastic container - think of the plastic of which milk gallons are made, only a little thicker - has a partition to hold the Tag Reader in place and sufficient room to fit up to 6 books.

The hinges consist of 3 strips of clear plastic that are glued to the top half and the bottom half of the case. When opening the case you should not force the top half beyond 90 degrees or the hinges are likely to break - this is what earns this item the one star for 'durability'.

The front is locked with 2 rather loose green plastic clamps. You must be careful when closing the case or they may end up inside the plastic handle instead of outside and they could bend or break.

My advice: you may be better off with a generic (zippered) 8"x10" case for your Tag Reader and its books. If you do decide to buy this one, do not let your kid handle it or it may not last for long.

A warning states that this product should not be used by children under 3 because of a 'hazardous pinch point when closing lid'. Good point.

Made in China.

Picked this case up in the store when we bought the Tag system. Paid $17 for it, but thought it was worth it because it looked like it contained the Ozzie & Mack book inside it. Misleading packaging! Have to read the fine print to see it doesn't include a book with it and we paid $17 for a plastic case. Feel ripped off, but I'm sure the case will come in handy, but it was definitely overpriced.

This storage case worked very well for us. Fits the pen and several books that would otherwise be tossed around the room. Our daughter is 4-1/2 and learning how to organize herself, so providing a tool that helps her with that task is terrific.

We like the TAG case, ours is the pink one, which our daughter loves. The case is made out of a thick plastic, that will (we know this from experience) withstand the weight of a 40lb child standing on it, although I don't really recommend trying this out. The hinges come down from the top of the case, and slide into grooves on the bottom of the case, and yes, they pull apart if your kid is really yanking on it, but they pop right back in with no problem. The case holds six books plus has a little spot for the pen, which is nice, because otherwise it would rattle around in there. For us, it was a good purchase, we bought it for $14 and I feel like we got our money's worth. Yeah, you could just buy a zip pouch for it, that's true, but if it gets stepped on, or something spilled on it, you'll wish you'd sprung for the plastic case, because your TAG pen will be ruined, and that's no fun for anyone.

I was hesitant because of some reviews stating it was poorly made, pinched fingers, was flimsy or difficult for little hands to use.

My daughter is 3 and I find this item GREAT. She has no problem opening and closing the case, putting her books and TAG reader in. It keeps everything together and protected. She loves carrying it from place to place and having her books handy. We have found that we can fit 8 regular books in the case.

The only disadvantage we found is that she has a set of TAG cars that don't fit well in the case unless you want to take a bunch of books out.

Purchased this so my daughter could keep her Leap Frog Tag pen and books together. This did the trick nicely. Solves the problem of having all the books just laying around and having the pen lost.I am considering buying another to hold additional books. Would have given 5 stars but I felt the price could be alittle lower considering it is just plastic. Perhaps around $10-$12. $17 is a bit too much.

I give credit to Leapfrog for the design of this case that creates something that is sleek enough that a child can carry and store on a bookshelf while at the same time holding a fair amount of books. We own one of these in "pink" (I call that a questionable color association, but the picture is pretty fair to its true color) and a green and white one that is not transparent and although I purchased it on Amazon, the link to the one that I received is not the same quality/style as pictured (mine is better!) In our pink case we have all of our Tag Jr. Books and although it just barely fits (no major forcing) there are 6 Tag Jr board books that are in the one case: LeapFrog Tag Junior Book: ABC Animal Orchestra and LeapFrog Tag Junior Get Ready To Read. In the other case we have the LeapFrog Tag Learn to Read Phonics Book Series Short Vowels,LeapFrog Tag Book Finding Nemo: Lost And Found, and the sample book that comes with the Tag Pen. There is room in this one for probably a few more of the thinner books and maybe 2 more of the hardback books. Great storage! The place for the pen to sit is a nice little nook for it and it won't slide around with the books.

Now for the negative. Everything about the construction I find fine for the sticker price of $15, except for the fact that the hinge on green/white one it doesn't allow for the case to open flat. It opens (more or less) to a 90' angle and then stops. This is a recipe for toddler disaster if they push it. It is a little more durable in construction though than the pink one. The pink storage case will open flat but there aren't any real hinges just the plastic joined together in the middle with voids in certain places. I foresee an issue with durability here similar to how you bend a credit card back and forth to break it. SO depending on which you prefer color isn't the only thing different on these products. The hinges are different. If I had to pick one - I'd probably have to say the green/white case is more durable.

Speaking to other common complaints: Regarding the clips/clasps/fasteners (whatever you want to call them) I personally found that construction to be ideal. No real chance of finger smashing/pinching with their design and yet still secure enough to hold the case closed. Also I saw a few complaints about the quality of the plastic. Honestly, I find it to be a decent weight and sturdy. I think any more 'thickness' would create a far more cumbersom product and honestly if they went with a harder plastic - if THAT were to break would be far more dangerous than the quality of plastic that this is. I think LeapFrog was being smart in their choice of plastic material and not cheap. Although again if I had to pick one of the two having better material it would be the green/white one.

Would I buy again - absolutely. Even if my kids do end up breaking these due to the hinge issue - I find their overall convinence and mobility to far outweigh the negatives. It's great to even grab these and take with us on the go.

This does the job intended!! Why spend so much on a item for you children only to have them step on it or misplace..
This keeps books/pen reader all in one case so your child can pick up and go and READ!!
I highly recommend this.

Great for keeping organized. Case is sturdy. Only limitation is that it only holds about 4 - 5 books. Still worth the purchase.

My daughter loves her tag reading system, but now that she has several books its not very easy for her to carry everything around with her. That's why we got her this storage case.

I was afraid that it looked too small to be able to carry all of her books, but it seems to be doing the job so far. Of course, the more books she gets, the less utility it will have, but for less than 10 books or so it seems to do the job.

We haven't had it for long, so I can't comment on its durability, but it seems sturdy enough for what it's intended. Though it should be said that my daughter tends to keep her things organized and picked up and she doesn't get too rough with her things. If she were a bit rougher or more careless with her things, I might be worried about its quality.
