More About the Author

Scott's first novel, Mommy's Choice, was originally published in paperback under the pseudonym Scott Curtis. In under a year on the bookshelves, that novel won the Xulon Book Award for romantic suspense. When Scott moved to a different publisher and started making his novels available to Kindle readers, he returned to his real name and reduced the prices to the absolute minimum allowed by Amazon.
Scott McElhaney currently resides in Ohio with his wife of 20 years and two sons. Although his books didn't become available to Kindle readers until December 2011, over 250,000 digital copies have been purchased to date and he still maintains a position in the top 100 worldwide in the "Sci-fi Space Opera" category.

This is a short story with a nice twist. Would have made a good Twilight Zone episode. Well worth a half hour of your time.

The story in here is very good, like most of Scott McElhaney's work. However-as other reviewers have stated-it is too short; although the description does mention it's not a full novel, I still expected it to be a bit longer. I personally didn't mind that much because it's only 99 cents (if it was more expensive I might have been upset), & I like this author so I don't mind paying the money.

My recommendation to McElhaney would be to set stories like this one aside as you write them, and when you have a reasonably sized collection of them (say >100 pages or so in an average sized softcover book), to publish them all together as a collection of short stories.

I hope you write more short stories as this one was very good; and to be honest, I don't think there was anyway to make this story longer. The story is basically perfect as is, & to modify it in any way in an attempt to make it longer or create a novel from it would ruin it.
Sometimes less is more in writing, and this is a perfect example.

When I purchased this book I thought it was full length. Wow this one is really short. Readers be forewarned. A good story though.

I read a lot in this genre and this was one of the good ones. The development of the scene and characters starts slow but like a whirlpool spins faster and faster.

Mcelhaney writes well. I own a lot of his books because I like his style.

This short in very thought provoking. Thematically it's a well constructed high tech, secular morality tale against DUI akin to the Biblical injunction that we reap what we sow. I was engaged by the main character from the beginning and found the plot twist at the end very skillfully done.

We do choose our own paths by seemingly unrelated decisions. Art in never better than when it portrays life as it is; but proposes a satisfying conclusion.
