It is useful for the seasoned collector and the film enthusiast who is just warming to the idea of owning a few movie posters. Written by Ed and Susan Poole, the book distills the important information about collecting film posters and brings the entire subject into focus. What's an authentic poster? Where did these posters come from? When did people begin to collect them? Do posters come from all countries? Are there cartoon posters? Did famous artists work on these posters? Can you still get silent movie posters? How do you buy a movie poster, and where can you see them? Is the internet useful in trying to find movie posters? Who are the great dealers in film material? What makes certain posters valuable? All the information in the book is useful, and if the book doesn't answer every last question, it addresses the areas in which questions naturally arise. This one should be in your library. The information in this book is of great help and is written in a clear and concise manner.

I am the owner of a web site dedicated to authenticating movie posters and I find this book worth every penny and more.This book is terrific for both the young and old collector and is awesome referance material.I actually find it odd that someone has not compiled this amount of information long ago to help people understand collecting movie posters and what it involves.If you would like to start collecting movie posters this is definately the book for you....sincerely "Mymovieposters" ... authenticating movie posters from 1970 to present!

This book is just the thing for either a beginner or expert on collecting movie posters. The different sections allow you to go straight to the subject you need information on immediately. I personally loved the section which lists the different artists and the posters they have done. Also of great interest is the section on preserving and displaying your collection.

Part I is excellent reading on the History of the Movie Poster and the books moves on to address the collection of movie posters.

A great asset for all movie lovers!!!

This is currently one of the few books available to the poster collector, and fortunately it covers a vast range of topics in depth.

Hopefully subsequent editions will contain colour photos, but that small niggle aside, it's a detailed and highly readable reference book. The authors' enthusiasm and knowledge of their subject shines through.

i am in taiwan. and there are few movie poster information here. it provide me a lot of knowledge to know more deeply in movieposter. it's great.
