A BOOK FROM A POPULAR COMMENTATOR ON "A COURSE IN MIRACLES",
By
This review is from: How to Learn from a Course in Miracles (Paperback)
Tara Singh (born 1919) is also the author of Gift for All Mankind, Commentaries on a Course in miracles, How to Raise a Child of God: It Is Trust That Frees the Mind--Not Education, "Nothing Real Can Be Threatened": Exploring a Course in Miracles, Love Holds No Greviences: The Ending of Attack (Miracle Studies), The Four Quarters of the Night: The Life-Journey of an Emigrant Sikh (Mcgill-Queen's Studies in Ethnic History), etc.
He wrote in the Foreword to this 1985 book, "As I emerged from a three-year period of silent retreat, I was introduced to A Course in Miracles for the first time. For me, it was the meeting of the Spirit. I recognized instantly that it was the Thoughts of God... I rejoice that 'A Course in Miracles' has its own day-by-day curriculum, as one is held by the hand and led to one's own eternal purity and holiness." Here are some additional quotations from the book: "(Jesus) spent three years with His apostles, and it has taken us four and a half years to discover that the ego makes sure never to find what it seeks. Yet there are group leaders of 'A Course in Miracles' everywhere selling miracles and holy instants as if they were conducting a yard sale." (Pg. 26) "Yet people have read it over and over without realizing the truth of it. Can you read it with the intensity of interest that will bring you to the State? It requires that you place a challenge before yourself." (Pg. 53) "Everything man needs to know is found in 'A Course in Miracles.' How much gratefulness is due it! All the wealth in the world could not buy what the Course does to a person." (Pg. 69) "Mere intellectual knowing has no validity---other than its ability to invent a false world that doesn't exist. By now, this should be quite clear to us. Religion is for those who are discontent with the false---the world of images and illusions." (Pg. 89) "'A Course In Miracles' is the direct thought of God---a gift given to His Son. Would you receive it? Would you accept it?" (Pg. 117) |
