Not sure what albums you might have heard by these guys but I enjoyed this one immensely. The similarity to Geoff Tate's voice (of Queensrhyche fame) is bizarre. Before I knew Jesus I was a big heavy metal fan and it is not easy to find music you can head bang to that has the message of salvation throughout. This album is not as "head bangy" as their earlier work but it is more melodic, in line with where music, specifically hard music, has turned in the last ten years after realizing one can only play so hard for a few years. Jesus is in the message more clearly on this album than on Camelot to Smithereens. The coolest thing is, Jesus still Rocks!

This album reminds me alot of operation mindcrime by QueensRyche, especially the vocal which sound just like Geoff Tate's. Altough this album is heavier than QueensRyche, it is a very progressive metal album. This album proves that not all christian music sucks!! I highly recommend this album, especially if your a fan of QueensRyche or Metallica.

Jimmy Brown II has put out some industrial goth music and it was there that I first heard him (Fearful Symmetry's "This Sad Veil of Tears") and that got me interested in what else that he's done. Apparently he's done a lot with this band and this is my foray into this band. I'm not a metalhead but I do get into some metal sometimes and this wasn't bad. Nothing on it really blew me away. Big, thick crunchy guitars and heavy bass and drums seemed pretty straightforward. Brown's vocals show promise; I like how he can emote sad memory and future anticipation and how he will try different tones like on "Renew" where he tries to channel an older Geoff Tate in more of a spoken-song style. My favorite song would have to be album closer "Sanctuary" which nicely sums up the album in style and quality. It's a slower metal march but satisfies.

3.5 stars.

I am personally a lover of Christian heavy metal, and Deliverance is one of the best. They are probably very near to my favorite band. In this particular album, it is all very crunchy heavy metal. No complaints at all. I love the song rain. I cannot complain really, it is all good. I do not get too critical unless something just does not make me feel good or stinks of men in tight leather pants, something I find to be disgraceful. This is just heavy, crunchy, and nice, with great lyrics to go along with it. I recommend it to any deliverance or Christian metal fan, or even those who are not into Christian metal. Give it a go.
