Had a lot of fun with this.,
This review is from: Learn to Draw Lilo & Stitch (DMA LearntoDraw Books) (Paperback)
Being a big fan of Lilo & Stitch and teaching myself to sketch, I was thrilled to find this book at the library. I was not disappointed. It's fun and easy to use if you know the very, very basics about drawing. Most of the instructions are just pictures of the individual steps, like most how-to-draw books for kids, but there are some helpful notes from the Disney artists scattered around the pages.
I worked through most of this book in about a week. During that time I was not seen anywhere without it. I even took it to school and drew during my free time (I had to share the book with my classmates during study hall)! I recommend it to any kid who can hold a pencil.

This book really breaks down the process of drawing animated characters, starting with basic silhouette (circles and other simple geometric shapes), and illustrating new strokes in each step with blue lines. It is relatively easy to follow, with written instructions accompanying the drawn ones. It also includes a succinct 4-page "story" section which sums up the film. I enjoyed it so much that I tried out two of the drawings, and they turned out great. I am not sure what age group best fits this, but I am sure many little artists would like to try these drawings.

Not a Great Deal of Instruction,

While this book does provide the basic information to draw most of the main characters from the movies/animated series, it doesn't provide a lot of basic instruction regarding the construction of the figure. Most of it can be inferred from the various stages of the drawings, but for children, it may be more difficult to garner that information. I was a bit disappointed, and won't be purchasing any more of this series.

this book would be great for kids.
there are a few good resources in it. and if you want to see how the characters where drawn its ok. not very many pages and very little sketch work shown. nothing like disney's art of books. |
