Some of the instructions in the book are hard to follow. I question whether using this method is a good idea for a project that will be used for a long period of time or that will be washed in the washing machine frequently. The technique requires you to tug on the zig zag or satin stitches in the blocks to make them immitate the whip stitches traditionally sew by hand. This tugging weakens the thread and fabric. I purchased the book hoping to find a faster method to finish a flower garden quilt I have been working on periodically for years. If you want to create a family heirloom this technique is not for you. If want to create a quick project for a throw quilt this technique will work for you.

Well, I really like the idea of doing EPP by hand, but this book offers a quicker way to accomplish the same result. You would not use both techniques in the same quilt, however. Pick one or the other: hand work or machine work.

It's a slim large format paperback. I wish it had a few more pattern ideas. Also a more modern slant would be nice. These are rather traditional quilts. The Modern Quilt movement takes advantage of many traditional techniques but places them in a fresher context. So, a more modern take would be nice.
