5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!
I love quilting, although I have only been learning the art for the past year. Quilting does not have a tradition in my family -- and this book was the wonderful teacher I had, since I did not have family who could teach me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!, June 2, 2000
This review is from: Learn to do Hand Quilting in Just One Day (4173) (Paperback)
I love quilting, although I have only been learning the art for the past year. Quilting does not have a tradition in my family -- and this book was the wonderful teacher I had, since I did not have family who could teach me.

This book walks through step by step the process of "no-stress" hand quilting. From preparing the fabric, the controversey of knots in patchwork, to small projects to work on. A wonderful reference book for the beginning quilter, like myself (and with techniques that could also help more advanced quilters).

A good basic book for anyone wanting to learn to hand quilt. Lots of pictures and very clear directions. The pictures are mainly black and white but it does not detract from the effectiveness of the various lessons.

I learned a few tricks that helped me to understand some of the things I was doing incorrectly and it has helped to improve my skills.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good!, April 24, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a very good book for learning to quilt by hand. Very clear and detailed instructions. I am a novice at hand quilting and wanted to learn the right way, not by trial and error, and this book really does show how to hand quilt in an easy to follow outline. Practice is important, as in any new project, but this book gets the beginner off to a great start and you will find that your stitches get shorter and better the more you stitch. Highly recommend this to anyone that wants to learn how to quilt by hand.

4.0 out of 5 stars hand quilt contentment, May 30, 2011
This is an updated version with an extra 32 pages and it is still only a total of 64 pages. The challenge of hand quilting is getting even and beautiful stitches. Nancy has great tips for doing just that. This is a concise yet thorough book on hand quilting. Three designs are from the original edition, but there are also four new designs. I like the contemporary colours runner best but the designs are very workable. There are templates for the designs. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in hand quilting.
