I rented this package from the library because I really wanted to learn Japanese. I started off the first day by turning on one of the four cassettes and following along in the beautifully done 256 page workbook. They told me simple ways of learning Japanese and it was very easy. I would recommend this to anyone who really wants to learn Japanese and who has the time. If you don't have the time, I would suggest something shorter and at a more grueling pace. But I definitely give this two thumbs up!

I bought this book for my Grandson. He liked it so much, I ordered another set so he could study with his friend. The friends daughter spent some time in Japan and he wanted to surprise her by conversing with her in Japanese. It's a fun way to learn and it's even better when you have someone to learn along with you.

I absolutely love this book! I remember when I started to borrow it from the library. It didn't come with the cassetes, but pronunciation was not difficult. I have also always watched Japanese anime, so I was used to everything. I understand that some people are annoyed that the book does not teach you how to write Japanese characters. However, there are two pages of Hiragana and Katakana in the back. Also, this book can only teach you so much, so I wouldn't be complaining. If you want to learn to write, watch Youtube videos, but it isn't that hard to teach yourself. This book, along with my Japanese friends, has helped me to learn Japanese, and gave me a good insight into the rich culture of Japan. After three years, I am a fluent speaker of the language, and this book helped me to get on the right steps.

I love this book so much! Its easy to connect to. It has visual pictures and name captions. All of its romaji. No actual Japanese characters. If you plan on just SPEAKING Japanese, and want to know what these things are, then i would recommend this book (:

i'm very happy for my order,...this book come with casseted tape ,before i worry about the qurity of the sound but this one make me surprise, sound so clear doesn't have any problem ...about the book,..i know somebody might say or give different review but for me ,..i got this book from my sister ,.i start to learn and also i study in japanese class also but when i read this book ,..it's make me understand also and it's make me want to here the word from tape ,..How to read ? how to ponound ,..so i found all this set from Amazon and i bought it ,,.and right i say...it's doesn't make me dispointed..this book good for help you to learn japanese ,plus in class ,It's like a tuitor...it's can help you to understand after class.

This is the worst way to learn Japanese or any foreign language.
You won't be able to find a single Japanese character in this book.
Just imagine. Someone is learning English without knowing
English alphabet !

This book does not teach you how to read Japanese.
It teaches you how to speak Japanese pretty good.
I don't like books that don't teach Japanese characters.
