I had attempted to knit before, with no success. I bought this book because of the title, actually.
I had not opened the book until I took my daughter to a concert she was in, and I would have a lot of time to wait for her.
I took the book, yarn, and a set of needles with me to try it out.
I was knitting in no time at all. I actually did knit in one day. No confusion, the left and right needles are different colors...and the yard to go around what needle is a different color to make it easier.

Anyone who wants to learn to knit, I highly recommend this book for the beginner.

The book certainly lives up to it's name.

I had bought another book to try to learn to knit from and was very confused. This one had much better explanations and images. The book is very short (it's more like a booklet you would see at a craft store) and doesn't go beyond the basics. So if you're looking for something more advanced, this is probably not the book for you. For example, it does not cover knitting in rounds with circular needles. It only shows you how to knit larger items like afghans with circular needles. Also, there is a small section on correcting mistakes, but I guess I was making weird mistakes because it didn't help me that much.
I haven't tried any of the patterns yet, so I can't say how good they are. But I have to admit, I was indeed, knitting in just one day.
Tip: Buy some chunky yarn and size 10 or 11 bamboo needles. Those were much easier for me to learn with.

Years ago, my sister tried to teach me to knit. After using this book, I've realized she just made it way too complicated. I bought the book, got the supplies, followed the directions, and I was KNITTING THE SAME DAY!! If I'd known it was this easy, I'd have been knitting years ago!!

I got a copy of this book(let) from my mom years ago and taught myself to knit very quickly. Now I am a very advanced knitter but when I have friends who want to learn, I always steer them towards this book! Any other books that I've found are too complicated, too boring, or just confusing. This book is clear, has amazing diagrams, and will have you knitting in no time!!! I do agree with the other reviewers, though, you should probably buy bigger needles and chunkier yarn to make learning even easier! If you want to knit, BUY THIS BOOK. I *still* use it as a reference even after all these years!

video's on youtube it is the best. I was knitting in 1 day but I would use a larger needle and a bulky weight yarn. Used it as a crutch for a while.
