1.0 out of 5 stars Not useful at all for serious animator / illustrator
I bought this book believing it would be an aid as an aspiring animator. I was very disappointed to discover that all 80-something pages are made up of 5 step progressions of the characters appearing on a grid. There's no use of spheres, circles, volumes. This review is from: Learn to Draw Looney Tunes (combo Vol) (Looney Tunes Animating & Drawing Books) (Paperback)
I bought this book believing it would be an aid as an aspiring animator. I was very disappointed to discover that all 80-something pages are made up of 5 step progressions of the characters appearing on a grid. There's no use of spheres, circles, volumes. It looks more like someone started with a nice trace on a line drawing and started erasing parts of it backwards until the page was empty, then put the drawings in reverse to appear as if this is a building process. GRID drawings are good for an 8-year old, but not when you are trying to understand these characters. If you're serious and are interested in truly learning what's behind a Character, you should check out "Draw the Looney Tunes" by Dan Romanelli Draw the Looney Tunes THEN you won't be disappointed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hard For Younger Artists To Follow..........., May 15, 2008
This review is from: Learn to Draw Looney Tunes (combo Vol) (Looney Tunes Animating & Drawing Books) (Paperback)
This book isn't best for a beginner. I would recommend it for those who have already grasped many of the multiple steps needed to complete each character's profiles.
On the upside, it features lots of large glossy cartoons!
