This is an ideal book for a novice quilter. The instructions are clear, easy to follow and detailed. It contains great color illustrations and pictures. The chapter on "Basic Information" provides information on selecting supplies, care and storage of quilts, measurements, etc. I have already started one of the many quilts I'll make from this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Accuracy Counts, June 12, 2006
This review is from: Learn To Machine Quilt (Hardcover)
I purchased this book last week. While I have been sewing since a child, quilting is a new passion. I purchased the fabrics for the "Water Baby Quilt" and cut the pieces out according to the directions. There are NO LESS THAN 4 printing errors in the dimensions called for in the book. There may be more, I just haven't found them yet. I have only made it to step 2 in the stitching directions. I was quite disappointed in this book. A "Beginner's Guide" should be just that - a pattern an inexperienced quilter/sewer can follow without having to reason why the pieces are not fitting. I tried to contact the publisher by means of the web address in the book, but the address doesn't exist. This makes me very leary of spending any more of my hard earned money on books by this publisher. I am also leary of trying any of the other patterns without studying them in detail and making a sample block from scraps, just to make sure the pattern is accurate. I would not spend money on this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent learning to machine quilt book with step by step illustrations, October 27, 2009

This review is from: Learn To Machine Quilt (Hardcover)
I took this book out of my library. It was the best beginner books I've read. So I ordered one to have for reference and to make a few of the wonderful quilt patterns it contains. I'd recommend this to all quilting beginners. There are step-by-step instructions with colored photos which are easy to understand and follow with delightful uncomplicated patterns.

Most books of this kind assume too much. As a beginning quilter it's important to be specific with step-by-step instructions. Bravo to the author!
