5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Stars for this book as an advanced users upgrade guide.
This book was ordered based on the reviews and synopsis; that included that there was comprehensive tutorial for Binder. The fustration that I encountered while working with Binder was not relieved or helped by this book.

While every other program, that can act as a stand alone, was covered, Binder was mention in passing footnote more or less and mostly less. I...

This book is more for advanced users of Microsoft Office 97, and is really not for beginners. I found the book to be confusing at times, and not helpful in explaining vital components of each program. You will find yourself simply typing in formulas or instructions for hands-on activities, and not learning how to really use the applications. The companion diskette that...

I appreciate that the author set out at the first of the book what he expects your level of understanding and use to be, and that he maintains that level throughout the book and does not overdue the hands-on instructions. The dividing up of each program into elements with a hands-on for each makes this book easy to incorporate into the work place or for a fast pace environment. The user most definiately needs to be familiar with Windows and some of the programs.

This book is more for advanced users of Microsoft Office 97, and is really not for beginners. I found the book to be confusing at times, and not helpful in explaining vital components of each program. You will find yourself simply typing in formulas or instructions for hands-on activities, and not learning how to really use the applications. The companion diskette that came with my book was also corrupted, and half the items for practice were not usuable. I would recommend another book for those wishing to learn Microsoft Office 97. If you are an advanced user of Office 97, then perhaps this book may be used for review, not much more.
