5.0 out of 5 stars Learn To Power Think, August 18, 2002
By
This review is from: Learn to Power Think: A Practical Guide to Positive and Effective Decision Making (Paperback)
This book really hit home the fact that our power comes from within. Once read I had the ability to look at my strengths. I now feel I can be the best I know I can be both with my personal and professional life. I really liked the step by step exercises that made the process fun and fool proof. Thanks Caterina, for showing me how to reduce my stress and believe in myself.

Rando's ebullient personality comes through her writing, and I found this book inspiring. She presents good ideas for analyzing the way you think and demonstrates how your thoughts limit you. She gives thoughtful, practical ideas for turning your good ideas into action. I particularly liked her section on remembering the good things you've accomplished in the past and building on the self-esteem they foster. Rando is one of those writers you'd like to do lunch with!

Four stars instead of five because art director puts exercises in miniscule type on colored background and they are extremely difficult to read. Illustrations are lovely, however, and basically this book looks wonderful, which in some ways enhances the text. But someone should have overruled the art director on type size. In a self-help book, content is more important than the look of the book. You'll find plenty of content here -- if you can read it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Your Heart's Desires Can Easily Be Yours, August 21, 2002

This review is from: Learn to Power Think: A Practical Guide to Positive and Effective Decision Making (Paperback)
A great book that I have decided to use in my class this Fall so that students can self assess and determine what they want and proceed to figure out ways to get it.

Working with students committed to social justice is my passion. I want to give them every possible tool to be successful in what ever they choose to do and be. This book is an excellent foundation to do so.

5.0 out of 5 stars Motivated Me to get Serious about a Life goal, June 1, 2002
This review is from: Learn to Power Think: A Practical Guide to Positive and Effective Decision Making (Paperback)
Never did I imagine that going to an author talk by Caterina Rando would help me achieve a life goal! I came away from her talk having found the strength in my heart and in my head to change a lifelong pattern of overeating/between meal snacking. I lost four pounds just in the first week!

Her book is lavishly illustrated, beautiful to look at and hold, and full of wisdom. If you can't find at least one gem that's more than worth the cover price, you'd better check yourself for a pulse and a heartbeat.

Bravo! A welcome addition to the self-help literature.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book can help you make positive changes in your life., April 27, 2002
This review is from: Learn to Power Think: A Practical Guide to Positive and Effective Decision Making (Paperback)
Power Thinking is a beautifully constructed book -- the artwork alone is worth the price! More importantly, the information and exercises are thought-provoking and potentially life changing. Some of the changes are small; others, profound. Taken together, this book can change your life. If you're stuck and the "positive thinking" books or the "get-off-your-butt-and-do-it" books haven't helped you, try Power Thinking.
