5.0 out of 5 stars A superbly organized book, March 4, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Learn to Read and Write Greek: The Basics of the Greek Language (Paperback)
It could be called "my treasure book" as my husband and children refer to. Since the material is so well arranged and simply presented it's very easy for the begginer to get a thorough understanding of the basics and, in addition, the many lists of words that the book provides helps them to expand their knoweledge of the Greek language. Responding to the previous reviewer, the tape is not included, it is sold separately, as it is indicated in the book's description. In our family the tape was not necessary, some of my friends, however, found it extremely helpful. As you can see my family and I, are extremely fond of this book and of other books by its author. 5.0 out of 5 stars I'm Delighted I Took this Course., February 1, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Learn to Read and Write Greek: The Basics of the Greek Language (Paperback)
I took the Psyhogeos courses in 1985-86 while I attending Law school, in Boston. Matina Psyhogeos was offering an evening class at Hellenic College where she taught. Our class of about 18 took the beginner's course and we were all thrilled with our progress. We began with the fifteen lesson Mini-Course and the results were overwhelming. The list of words and the additional grammar of the book "Learn To Read and Write Greek", helped us to increase our vocab and comprehend the basics of the language. The other students (mostly professional people)and I, were so enthused that we continued for two more semesters and completed The Psyhogeos Program. Needless to say, we learned the language well in a very short time. I for one, never before was so successful in a foreign language, especially in the period of three semesters. All the books are excellent and I think they should have been more widely used. Following the simplified rules it was an easy way to learn one of the most beautiful languages. I wanted to review this book (along with the entire Psyhogeos Program)years ago, however, professional and personal obligations prevented me. I highly recommend the entire program and I'm so grateful I had the chance to take it. Shirley M.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best language book I've studied, January 3, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Learn to Read and Write Greek: The Basics of the Greek Language (Paperback)
I purchased the above book by chance. I wasn't even planning to study Greek until I skimmed through it. I was impressed by the simple manner each segment was presented and I decided to take it seriously. After I completed the course I decided that I was sufficient enough to go on to the second level and I ordered "A Greek Family Helps You Learn Greek" by the same author. I can proudly say now that I'm proficient in Greek thanks to a wonderful organization and simple presentation of key linguistic elements of the Psyhogeos Program of which these two books are part of. I could give both more than 5 stars if I could, they truly deserve it. Millie
