...A Picture Dictionary! This is a great book for learning new spanish words. The words are alphabetized by english and display the spanish translation, a cartoon picture, and a sample sentence in spanish using the word. Good for learning new words and a little bit of some sentence structure and verb tenses if you're somewhat familiar with spanish verbs already.

You really can't just "look and learn" a language. You have to hear it, read it, speak it and even write it to get it in your head. I do use this book as a staple in my Spanish classes - ages 4 to 18. The students enjoy looking through it and learning new words as well as using the sentences to increase vocabulary. The huge drawback is there's no phonetic pronunciation for the words or sentences and so would be useless to the beginner. You need to have a knowledge of pronunciation before trying to use this one on your own.

The plus side: Vocab is separated by themes, and it does explain time telling quite well! Great illustrations, but a little too small, in my opinion.

This is a solid, 1,500-word dictionary for learning Spanish that includes nouns, with proper article, as well as verbs and adjectives. It is structured alphabetically by English word, supported in each case by a colored picture drawing that is good for the kids. The pictures and use of each word in a bilingual sentence help the reader to memorize the words and understand Spanish language structure. There is a Spanish-to-English index at the end that gives the page number where the word was presented. However, pronunciation is not addressed, so another source will be needed for that.

A great learning tool and guide for teaching English to children here. A bonus is the use of the word in a sentence under the picture. Well done!

Very information on the vocabulary front ~ did not meet my expectations as to use...

I find this to be a terrible dictionary. My son loved it at first. But, it does not show the pronunciation marks to help us know how to pronounce things. Dumbest dictionary I've ever seen.
