This review is from: Learn to Draw Tarzan (Disney/Disney Pixar Classic Characters Series) (Paperback)
Hmm. It seems that they've lopped-off a couple of inches from the height and width of the new "How to Draw" titles. It's still a good book with detailed drawing tips. Not for the absolute beginner though. A budding artist should look into some of the earlier Walter Foster drawing/animation books.

How To Draw...,

This review is from: Learn to Draw Tarzan (Disney/Disney Pixar Classic Characters Series) (Paperback)
I have 5 volumes of the HOW TO DRAW series and I think this is one of the best because it shows a variety of different characters, ape, man, woman, panther... of course, there would be more to learn about Tarzan and how to draw the animals and maybe even some items like the treehouse or similar, but you can't have everything. It's a good reference book if you want to try your hand at drawing. Beginners will find it a challenge to "copy" a given picture following the step by step instructions. Artists with some experience will find the hints and a glance at the techniques used helpful.

I was delighted to get this book for a project we are working on for my first grandchild's room. Was so happy to get it in great condition and so inexpensively!

Drawing for the unartistic,

This review is from: How to Draw Disney's Tarzan (Paperback)
I have maximum enthusiasm and minimal artistic abilities. I stripped a small wooden dresser and began repainting it for the nursery. Using this book, a pencil with a good eraser, and a lot of sunlight and patience, I created a remarkable young Tarzan and his ape mom! I was so impressed with myself, I sat back and stared at it for a long time. I've been drawing misfigured and misproportioned Disney characters for my neices and nephews for a long time. Finally, with the help of this book, I was able to make some characters that would be instantly recognizable by anyone, even if they're not entirely forgiving tiny tots!

Lots and lots,

This review is from: How to Draw Disney's Tarzan (Paperback)
You get a lot with this book. The book includes all the main characters: Tarzan- adult, Tarzan- baby, Tarzan - 5 year old, Kala, Kerchek, Terk, Tantor,Professor Porter, Jane, and Clayton as well as fauna and flora : butterfly; lovebirds; vines; bamboo etc. The characters are a little harder to draw than other the classic Disney characters. Its not fault of the book, since the characters in Tarzan are much more detailed and complex. The book is full of tips to help ease the difficulty - how to draw the eyes correctly; placement of eyebrows; placement and shape of wrinkle around the nose; etc. The book includes lots color pictures of Tarzan and his friends so a big Disney Tarzan fan won't be disappointed. Although I haven't seen the smaller size version, I would highly recommend this oversize book. I would think the detailing required for these characters would be harder to draw and master from a smaller image.
