5.0 out of 5 stars Blues Clues and music are a great combination
My 2 year old has been getting very good at identifying her colors, so when I saw this book I thought it would be great for her. She does like this book, not as much as the Sesame Street or the Dora. She does sing along with each frame.

3.0 out of 5 stars Oh the Monontony!
This is a cute cartridge in theme and idea, but ohhhhhhhh is it monontonous! The same song is played over and over again with each new screen. Fifteen screens to identify colors is just too much of a good thing. My daughter gets bored with it halfway through. It would take a strong Blues fan to tolerate the entire cartridge.
Even with my criticism, this...

The only problem with this book is that with the lights in the unit they distort the colors a bit when you are looking at the screen, so identifying the colors is not always as easy as it should be. But all in all my daughter is very happy to play with this book.

Even with my criticism, this cartridge does have merit in your collection. It's just not my favorite. Learn Through Music is an excellent toy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great addition to the Learning Through Music toy!!!, September 5, 2004

This "book" is a great addition to the Learning through Music toy from Fisher Price. My 2 year old loved this book, it's his favorite. He has learned several colors and songs from it. You do need to own the actual Learning through Music unit to operate any of these books, but it's definately worth the $$$ to purchase. We own three "books" and we have a great time singing along!

It just amazes me when I see reviews like the one saying this item is "misleading" and "not what it seems".
It says that it's a cartridge for learn through music. Buying this without the actual system is like buying a DVD or Video Tape and saying "It looked like a great movie but it's misleading because it doesn't work without the DVD/VCR player"
I seriously think people do too much buying without thinking, and especially if it's folr a CHILD, you should research and actually KNOW what your giving them to play with!

As for the toy itself, my baby loves this but mostly because he has a few cartridges & can alternate which ones he plays with, so he doesn't get board.
I like this toy but it needs more cartridges.

My former preemie twins, now 3, are obsessed with this toy. They can play with it for over an hour straight if I let them.
The only disappointing thing was that the microphone broke off after only 3 months. Too bad because it was even more fun with it working.
I have found that toys with microphones always seem to break faster.

Hello people, repetition is how children learn! Yes the Colors song plays for each screen, but the words are different for each screen because it describes color & how you make different colors with the primary colors. The song is catchy & maybe you may learn a thing or too about colors as well.

My daughter loves it! Get your child will love it too.

There are more than one Learn Through Music players. Several of the cartridges on here (especially used) are for the older version and will not fit in the newer "touch pad" version - but they do not say that in the description. Beware or you, too, will have disappointed little ones!

4.0 out of 5 stars Educational with catchy tunes., September 12, 2005

And when I say catchy, I mean they'll be sung over and over again in your head as you try to get to sleep.

Still, it amuses my 23mo and that's all I can ask for. It's for children 3-4 years old, so it's a bit more than she can understand, but she still gets some enjoyment. Hopefully my player lasts another 2 years and they keep up with making cartridges! The player is one of her favorite toys!

My Daughter received this toy from my parents for CHristmas last year. IT's still in great condition and she never stops playing with it. IN fact we took it in the car to entertain her on a very long ride. I think it was something like 4 hours in the car. ALl we heard was the toy from the backseat. It's a loud toy so if you don't like loud things this may not be a toy for your house. But in our house it's not a problem. Anything that keeps her attention for more than an hour is okay by me :o).

The description of this "book" is very misleading. You need
to have the rest of the toy for it to work. My son received
this as a birthday gift and was very disappointed that it
didn't work. You have buy the unit that it goes in and
then it's some sort of electronic game/book. I have yet
to find the thing I need to buy for it to work.
