5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Toy!
I cannot say enough great things about this toy.

I have purchased/received multiple toys of a similar nature including the Little Touch LeapPad and the PowerTouch Baby systems and the Learn Through Music system beats them hands-down.

3.0 out of 5 stars It has problems!!!
I got this knowing from other reviews that I have read it could stop working properly or not work at all soon after I buy it, but I thought maybe it was just a fluke with these other parents. So I got it but kept the box and reciept, it's a excellent toy if there are no problems that arise, but about 3 hours after I bought it would not scroll through the pages half the...

I cannot say enough great things about this toy.

I have purchased/received multiple toys of a similar nature including the Little Touch LeapPad and the PowerTouch Baby systems and the Learn Through Music system beats them hands-down.

Whereas the other toys were either difficult for my toddler to manipulate, were flimsy, were not durable, were expensive, etc. the LTM system has overcome all of those problems.

The system itself is very easy to use--insert a (sturdy) cartridge (of which there are a ton of titles and can be gotten for as little as $10), which then "clicks" in so it cannot be removed easily by little ones but easily by adults, press one of the bright arrow buttons and presto! Touching practically anywhere on the screen causes it to light up, and either play an associated song or describe the picture. The cartridges are "scroll" screens and pressing an arrow button causes the page to "turn." Each cartridge has several pages filled with so many different learning activities, picture recognition, and songs (the Dora cartridge even identifies the pictures in Spanish and English) that as a parent even I don't get tired of it!

The system has different volume levels which is a blessing for any parent. Also, it has different modes--music and quiz. The music mode is great for younger children and the quiz mode is perfect for those children slightly older who can follow along with the games and have greater cognitive skills.

My only complaint is that the microphone on my child's broke within the first couple of weeks, but honestly, since it always got the "feedback squeak" because my child insisted on putting it in their mouth to talk into the mic, it's not much of a complaint at all.

As far as sturdiness--this toy has been stood on, dropped, sat on, pounded with other toys, had juice poured on it, and, on one memorable occasion, was "fed" cheerios. However, it cleaned up easily and is still in perfect working condition.

Both my child and I love this toy, you and your child will as well!

5.0 out of 5 stars learning through music, October 18, 2003

THIS IS THE BEST TOY! I can not even explain how much we love it. My 4year old "special needs" daughter has a very hard time finding toys that she can actually play with or that she likes and for the first time this year we found a toy-that she LOVES. Her older sister (6yrs) also really likes it. It is easy, fun, interesting, musical, educational--it is truly a wonderful toy, worth every penny. I have not seen the Barney one, but am hoping it will be in stores soon...

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Have Learning Toy!, October 10, 2003

The Learn Through Music toy from fisher-Price is a must have learning toy for children. This toy is innovative, yet simple. The concept is perfect for our son because he loves music and for him to learn these basic learning lessons such as letters, numbers and shapes to the music of his favorite friends from tv is ideal! We purchased the toy with Elmo, but we had to go back and buy the Blues Clues and Dora Explorer ones. For $10.00 each, these are worth every dollar because the learning stimulates my son and encourages him to learn more. The information on the box indicates there is a Barney version, but we have not been able to find this yet. We hope to see more in time for Christmas.

I got this knowing from other reviews that I have read it could stop working properly or not work at all soon after I buy it, but I thought maybe it was just a fluke with these other parents. So I got it but kept the box and reciept, it's a excellent toy if there are no problems that arise, but about 3 hours after I bought it would not scroll through the pages half the time and when we touched the screen it would not play the right sounds with that page it was on. We never dropped it or anything, I even replaced the batteries twice the same day I got it to see if that was the problem, but it still was acting up a lot, so the next day I took it back and got a refund, if you want to try it just keep the reciept and the box 'cause you might have to take it back.

But if it did work good it is a lot of fun, but it's very hard to see in dark rooms you need sunlight or a bright room to play with it, it really needs a backlight.

After one month the toy quit working. When I contacted the company, they had me cut the microphone and send it in to them and they send me a new system. After another month, this one quit too. Gave up and threw in the trash. Given the cost of the cartridges and the poor quality I would not advise purchasing this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful toy!, September 3, 2007

This really is a great toy for you toddler. We purchased this for my 2 year old yesterday, and she has been playing with it practically nonstop. I am not sure why the price for this is so high on amazon? We purchased ours at Toys R Us for only $42. There are so many different cartridges, and different screens on each cartridge, so many places for the child to touch. The music is sure to catch your child's attention! My only negative comment is that the volume seems to be SO loud. There is a high and low volume switch on the back, but it still seems to be quite loud for us. With that said...the good things about this toy greatly outweigh the loud volume.

5.0 out of 5 stars ADORABLE AND DURABLE-DOES IT GET BETTER THAN THIS?!?, August 26, 2003
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars

Finally, a learning toy that truly has educational value yet isn't too complex or boring for that matter. The books you get for it are reasonably priced and are characters such as Dora, Blues Clues, Elmo and Barney that all children recognize and will hold their interest. My daughter, age 3, LOVES this more than her LeapPad. I am planning to replace Leap with the new Fisher Price Power Pad too because we gave that a test drive at the local Toys R Us and it is much easier to use and again all of the tapes and books are much more kid friendly subject matter. Also, this is very well made for the money! Highly Recommend!!!!!
