The Only Way to Learn About Horary and Electional Astrology,
By "sky-views" (Georgia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Only Way to Learn about Horary and Electional Astrology, Vol. 6 (Paperback)
My four stars is based on my opinion that while this may not be the "only" horary astrology book you'll ever need, it certainly delivers what it promises-simplicity. If you want to learn how to receive simple yes or no answers to specific questions using astrology and don't have years to spend studying the art of horary, then I'd recommend this book. After you get the basics under your belt with this book, you'll probably want to refine your skills with a more complex study of it. When this book says simple-it means it! If nothing else, this book doesn't bog you down in tons of confusing rules and terminology. This means that you may be less likely to throw in the towel when it comes to learning horary astrology. If your knowledge of astrology is at an intermediate level, this is a good book.

This book, while containing good information, left me with an unclear understanding of how to interpret electional charts; it just didn't work for me. The first 5 volumes are outstanding, so this was very frustrating.

These ladies really knew their stuff. I recommend their entire series to all students of astrology. Just beware in this particular book that Joan's shortcuts are just that -- shortcuts. While they may have worked for her, I find that Anthony Louis' [and Olivia Barclay's] book is a better reference for serious horary students. Still, if the topic is new to you, this book is a great way to get enthused about a complex and absorbing astrological technique without becoming overwhelmed -- which you will become if you start with Lilly's or Barclay's books.

I really like the way March and Evers explain things in this book--so much easier to understand than any other thing I've read on the subject (which includes articles online and one other book).
Their approach is very practical and allows a beginner to try her hand at analyzing a chart, even though I suspect that it would take practice and personal instruction to really feel confident in this area. A very good starting point.

This book will have tons of examples of horary readings, but it's not by any means a comprehensive educational guide, and you'll find that you will need more books to learn it. So the title of the book, "the only ways to learn about horary and electional astrology" is misleading and inaccurate. I enjoyed reading the book and it can also be found in libraries for free. For me to own a book it must be beautiful and complete, which this book was not. This is nevertheless is an OK book, and if I wasn't misled into believing that "the only way to learn" (What a rediculous title!) about the astrology is thru this tiny little book, I would give it more stars. However it was not. It's a scratch on a surface and a highly entertaining read - so the title should be "Introduction to Horary Astrology' that will more accurately describe it for what it is. The author is definitely a very talented practitioner who shares examples and stories from her practice. She does not share her How To knowledge and I cannot consider it as an educational guide. I enjoy it as a very interesting read though, and its a complementary read for all who are interested in astrology.

Yippee! What an marvelous experience to read a book on horary Astrologer that promotes clarity and understanding. I can use the examples of charts in the book for insight on my own personal charting. Marion March and Joan McEvers keep it simple for providing accurate readings. It is a book that makes a reader want to crave more knowledge but thus is the quest for more books. If it is written my Marion March and Joan McEvers, it is sure to be a winner. Namaste!!!!
