Really good beginner book and general reference,
By Dave "Computer Climber" (Pittsburgh, PA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Learning to Rock Climb (Outdoor Activities Guides) (Paperback)
This was my first climbing book, and it was very helpful to me.It covers a lot of topics, has helpful illustrations and photos, and clear, encouraging text. If you're new to climbing, or want a good reference book, this is it. From basics to advanced, equipment how-to's, top-roping to leading, this covers it; emphasizing good technique, sound practice, and balance over strength. If I was stranded on a deserted island with a cliff and could choose a climbing book to have, this is the climbing book I'd want.

This review is from: Learning to Rock Climb (Outdoor Activities Guides) (Paperback)
This was one of my first rock climbing books back in the 80's and proved to be a invaluable guide to techniques and instruction and is still on of my favorite and highly recommended books still today. It sports superb photo's even if in black & white and is a great addition to one's climbing library even if now out of print technically but still available thru some sellers.
